Mmmmm, cresta. I have no idea why, but i can't get enough of this thing. It's just so good and so abnormal. Even 2 years on, the story of this car makes me instantly pay attention to it.

I just came here to see what level of wear something like drag week has put on that tortured barra. The car has achieved a lot, it's solid.
Omar seems like a cool dude, great you got him involved in the video.
Absolutely love engine archaeology. Thanks for showing the whole breakdown. Fascinating to see the little things that affect the engine after all its been through.
Omar at Empire has been playing around with 6cylinder ford falcon engines since the 90s he really knows his way around them from the single cam to the Barra
Cleetus McFarland's wrecker engine builds: last 2-3 passes before losing oil pressure and eating their bearings. Benny's wrecker engine build: lasts countless passes and still isn't in bad shape. I rest my case.
@VA-ng2ve

Not really accurate comparisons. Cleetus pushed it beyond what you could reasonably expect, also a bit of inexperience there. Benny just didn't push it that hard.
Great tip for keeping the trans off the ground, thanks Benny 😁

Love the Cresta. Another great video and great Guest Expert. Keep up the awesome job. Kudos to the editor with all the number plates fogging.
Love the story of the Cresta, keep it up mate!
Noting the Hughes Performance shirt and recalling how Alan mentioned an upcoming project involving them. Mechanical Stig + Turbo Yoda = Automotive Awesomeness.
thanks for the tip Benny ...simple but very effective 👍👏👏
Great video Benny, the Cresta is an epic journey and one that many of us watching have followed since the Mighty Car Mods build. The Cresta is becoming an iconic car that has many hours of work invested in it. It would be great to see Omar again, it would be great to hear his thoughts on the Barra engine in greater detail.
I love it when you take a moment to explain small tricks like the jackstand on the trans :D
That jackstand trick is awesome! Thank you for sharing!
Your content has really improved dude. That’s heaps

Haven't watched the vid. But just wanted to say this man is a legend.
Excellent episode 👍🏻
Very nice tip on supporting the trans while the engine is out. I've never seen that before.

hi, while you don't need cams to make the power, once you have all the rest figured out as you have, it really gives a big raise in performance without changing any other hardware

Line pressure to high on the trans pushes the converter out and overloads the thrust bearing. Is a known fault with a glide and the turbo boxes behind big power v8s

Great episode have loved this car for ages and love your knowledge on all this stuff, just that music is a little in the face I know you will never satisfy everyone but a suggestion is a website called artlist, I use it at uni for audio engineering it is subscription based but you get licences to use the music for what ever and it is cheap on there and it is top quality stuff.
Only 30 seconds in and I can already tell I'm going to enjoy this video :D
Nice work Benny - please give some more boosts!
Nothing evil about a barra powered drift wagon. Only awesomeness.
Draining coolant from the block. Get a old style radiator drain valve, the kind with a 1/4" pipe thread on one end and a wing on the other. Press in a short piece of 1/4" brake tubing to the wing side. This way a piece of vacuum hose can be slipped over the tubing and the other end into a pan. For blocking radiator hoses, use what we call a " Fernco " rubber plumbing cap.
Lube yer alternator with coolant for extra amps.

Does nobody else use a shop vac to remove rogue coolant from hoses & blocks? Takes far less time than getting a bucket of oil dry & mop. Best part is no slick shit on your hands that never dries.
Great to see how the Barra has held up after all that punishment. Best Ford Motor ever .
Love this car, love these engines. I wasn't aware that the Turbo cars (from factory) had a different cam spec.
Something about the Ford Australia long stroke 6's, even the earlier crossflow examples could be made to scream way harder than factory especially adding Fuel injection and later parts. Seems the Barra got it all the way home.
Did someone say IS 200 with a Barra swap?

Btw should let you know all Barras from the BF onward (turbo and n/a) have the same cams, they never had to change them!
A great combination of car and motor. I';d love to go for a ride with you Ben.
Great vid, but the wobbly music drove me nuts. The BARRA is awesome, thinking about putting one in my AU Fairmont (yeah I know , but I like it) because the rear welch plug let go.

Benny, i know some of its straight forward, but you should have mentioned about draining all fluids, mentioned about the clamp style used and how it made it easy to remove stuff, and why you used a paint marker
Benny can we see the torrington bearing installed. Does it replace the 360 thrust bearing mod?
No idea why. Cant get enough of the Cresta.
Ow my ears 😖 love the cresta tho 👌
That engine was so clean!
Great series Benny! Moog's playing around with some Vaporwave then? cool vibe, goes well with the video.

I actually one day randomly saw the cresty that the MCM put a barra into, followed it and took some pictures :D
I'm on the wagon... Great videos to watch but the music is off putting... But Omars shop looks amazing with all the fords... But what was the blown beast in the background
Love the vapourwave vibes
Lookin good.
Good Barra tear down vid. Not many indepth on the old tube.
Barra Power... Love it!!!...
I was under the impression that the single cam engines got a 360 deg thrust bearing from the factory but the aftermarket stuff like ACL only comes with 180 deg. Guess I will find out when I tear mine down
damn what a workhorse. great mechanic and tuner ;D
Omar goes alright. He be the Barra YoDA
I wish we got the Barra instead of the 4.6 mod here in the States. People will defend those boat anchors till they're blue in the face. Straight 6 4valves are less complicated and they can make way more power.
Has that converter been ballooning.?
If a goobered up thrust bearing is the most damage you found after that absolutely horrifying abuse you put that poor engine through, that is a win and another win! Good job, boys!
Cresta time!
