Morgan's rendition of "Dream On" is unbelievably powerful. She's a classicly trained opera singer. She does a version of "Barbie Girl" by Aqua in the style of the Beach Boys where she imitates a theremin. It's mind-bending. Morgan and Haley are both great singers. Can't go wrong with anything PMJ does with them.

Jash N I didna like the original, mainly because I didna like the way it was sung. Thom Yorke sings with an expressionless voice apart from one section where he goes into a high register. Unfortunately, the backing is ramped up as well a himself, and you canna hear him very well because of the backing.. It's a complete turn-off for me. However, I have to admit that it worked with many people who think it's great. In fact, quite a few criticise Haley's version because it is so different. The mood she establishes is different from the apathetic despair of Thom Yorke. It's more a sad, wistful yearning that notches up into stronger passion and back again more frequently than Thon does it. However, even he has a passionate outburst before subsiding into expressionless depression. Check Haley's version with the lyrics, and you'll see that there is not singing them inappropriately, just differently from Thom Yorke. (Of course, I think she does it far better!)

That is Haley Reinhart who is an absolutely phenomenal singer! I first heard her on American Idol. She placed third but is arguably one of the best voices ever featured on that show. She's outrageously talented and I totally love her voice. She's not had too much commercial success since the show but I think part of that is just not finding the right material that connects with people.....yet. Commercial success or not, the girl can blow! She has pipes for days. Reminds me a tiny bit of a young Mariah Carey.

Loved your reaction! The cover style is late 1930s jazz lounge "torch singing". A torch song is one of unrequited love, failed relationships, being used and abused, feelings of little worth, hurting so bad you want to die. Normally a slow crooning ballad, the jazz aspect allows the singer to show power, range and innovation if they have talent. Thus, the genre choice for the infamous "I'm Shit, I Know, But Can't Stop Wanting You" song, "Creep." NOTE: PMJ had stopped into a small Swedish recording studio on the spur of the moment in Stockholm after eight straight days of live performances all throughout Scandinavia. Haley was totally exhausted by then and not feeling well at all, but agreed to try just two songs. This one was the ONLY taping of Creep and it was famously done from beginning to end in this take with no rehearsal. The band supported her totally by watching her body language from the back and listening to her volume for the crescendos and runs (where you hear them go silent or hold back). The piano and drums were perfect. This video is now legendary for both the performance and the back story. She recorded one other really great "listen to" as the lead in a female trio cover of "It's All About That Bass" that will knock your socks off with the sultry tones and subtle choreography. BTW, the bass solo/duet in that video is both funny and entertaining as two men play the same upright bass fiddle in the middle that they had only come up with THAT morning, and only tried the one time before the performance video was made. It also has several million views. Don't miss it!

I'm pretty sure they recorded a third number as well but I canna mind what it was, and it's annoying me like hell. Can you put me out of my misery? Cage SC She has thon velvety warm and intimate tone that is so Torch song Lounge singer, but then you get those vicious rasps and belts that never came from any other of those Lounge singers that I can think of, or any other singer at all. However, "A rose by any other name smells just as sweet" and all that. She's great, but difficult to adequately describe because she has so many different tonal colours that she uses with such easy control.

This reaction is well over a year ago and this is the first I've come across you, Too Sushi. Loved your reaction of Haley!! She did a cover of No Doubt's "Don't Speak" (with PMJ) which is just as amazing!!! I love her voice and wanted her to win the first time I heard her on American Idol (she came in 3rd). She is a diamond waiting to shine and be given the acknowledgement she so richly deserves!!!! Another singer, just as incredible, is a young lady from the Philippines...Morissette Amon. She's called Asia's Phoenix; the Mariah Carey of the Philippines, and her vocals are OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! Please, if you're still reacting, give Don't Speak a listen and I'd suggest starting out with Morissette's song, AKin Ka Na Lang (her reportoire of covers goes on and on and she has even recently released songs she and her fiance wrote. Morissette does all genres of music...Pop, Rock, R & B, Christian music, Broadway songs (which are incredible). Haley is fantastic and I love her voice soooooo much....it's just that I believe, like millions of others, Morissette is the best singer on this planet today!!!! Morissette is just getting noticed internationally and she's been in the "biz" for 10 years. She's 25 y/0 AND she's never had any professional training. She sings, smiles while singing, tells us a story and becomes the lyrics and pulls you in. (btw, most all of Morissette's covers are in English). Akin Ka Na Lang is in her native language and you WILL love it. Please make sure you don't stop ANY video of hers until the video stops. She sometimes takes pauses before the last couple of lyrics.

When you do these, you should find and listen to the original first -- it's even more impressive when you experience just how the arrangement was made to fit into the different, retro-classic musical styles. I've love Hailey since she was my favorite on season 10 of American Idol and came in 3rd(she was robbed)! Lol. Voice like silk and so distinctive. Definitely underrated. Amazing talent, raw and sexy but controlled. Glad you enjoyed, and hilarious that she left you speechless. Take care Sushi!

Hailey didn't really cut loose on that one. You need to watch more PMJ, you won't be sorry. They're all set in different era styles, 1950-40s, Motown, etc. They do a remake of Silent Whisper that's my favorite. Hailey does one of Seven Nations Army that you would love. However, that's just my opinion. Yours Aye
