Creating a FLOATING MONOLITH in Photoshop - Sci Fi Speed Art

In this week’s #photoshop #speedart, we’re going to Antarctica in search of an ancient monolith, loosely inspired by H.P. Lovecraft’s, ‘At The Mountains of Madness’. Having been a fan of #Lovecraft for sometime, I wanted to explore an idea I had a while back after my first read of this incredible novella.
This piece took 6 Hours to complete and is primarily a mix of photo-manipulation techniques as well as some digital painting where needed.

Thanks man, it really just depends on the image itself and what I want from it. If I know all I want is say, the flare from an image, then I'll just erase the rest ... destructive but quick.

fantastic work! I've noticed that the final artwork always has some sort of grain effect to it. Is this something you add as a final step, and if so why?

I wonder if I have a problem, I make the color settings halfway through the project. And I arrange the objects according to the harmony of the colors. What you do is really nice. My only problem is looking for png 2 hours :(

the only thing that bothers me and that i would of also hue shifted towards blue is that line of light underneath the floating monolith since it doesnt really fit since there is no light white/yellow source of light for it and its distracting me

I think he didn't like it, he put a lot more detail into this one.
I think the building on the left side makes the composition a bit too confusionary, the vertical element wasn't needed imho, but incredible work nontheless!
I love that this artwork looks like a digital painting but its not, its a matte painting
