    I never thought about using perc loops, interesting. My method is using one shots from percussion packs, like congas, with these generative midi devices. One M4L device I'd recommend you try out is MDD Snake. Trust me, it agrees with the freezing process lot more.

    This is good also but getting good results depends on selecting the right sounds in the first place. Sound selection is something that many new producers struggle with and something that is very difficult to teach. I feel it is generally something that comes with experience through trial and error which develops your taste and intuition over time.. The reason I am suggesting the loop approach is that you are selecting a set of percussion hits that work together.
