Thank you for this useful video. I have a Ender 5 pro about 3 years old and not done a lot of printing but getting back into it and on a learning curve. This time round Ive felt confident to upgrade the printer a little so added new PEI bed, printed out a support for the bed wires, new springs which I changed back as were not as good as the originals. Anyhow been having a lot of problems with bed leveling for some reason after setting the level and nozzle gap, starting the print the adjustments made are lost. using a test print, large rectangle plus circles centre and 4 corners, the first layer seems ok at the back of the rectangle but then the nozzle is almost touching the bed as it draws the front edge and it seems to get worse the longer the print is left running. So decided to try a BLTouch upgrade and that has led to needing an updated board as well as I have an older version, hence I came here to see what it involved. Ive not bought either yet as I have four choices, get them and see what happens, persevere and try to sort the issue out which I have been and getting nowhere, buying a new model or just giving up!

Hi, and thank you so much for your feedback. I have a friend who also has a Ender (can't remember which model) but he had issues with the springs on the bed and decided to replace them, but I'm not sure if he did a bad job or the springs were bad, but he ended up returning the printer for a replacement. Since the springs are directly connected to bed levelling you should first make sure each spring has enough adjustment in either direction without hitting its end point (at its tightest or its loosest). I rely heavily on manually levelling the bed and my technique is to use piece of paper with the same thickness used for flyers (you know, the kind which come through the front door for gutter cleaning services etc), make sure each servo is off so that you can move the print head with you hands and start levelling at each corner, keep going round the bed until they are the same and along with the centre of the bed. If you are feeling brave you can also adjust the level height whilst printing but, only turn the wheels by a miniscule amount since you really do not want to disturb the filament flow as it is laying filament. Keep 3D printing and the best of luck to you.

@@domenicodevivo5318 Thx for the reply and a quick update. 1. I adjusts the height that the Z switch will stop the bed, it had changed due to the new PEI bed I added. 2. on my Ender it still has the option to disable just the X-Y axis so I started to use that option instead 'all' steppers, apparently Enders are known for a 'drop' in this option. 3. Level with paper as you do, not tried the 'flyer' but will which will make future junk mail a sight of joy!, but run a bed level test after that and adjust accordingly. Just finished a couple of prints using the above and with great results. ATB

Greetings Domenico, It might be that because of the clogged fan which then produced a very low air flow that allowed the M.B. to overheat, maybe, and it failed. It's good to see the clog as I will make a bigger effort to review my fan enclosure and fans more often. Thanks Again Doug

Hi, Maybe the heat contributed but the I didn't see any scorch marks on the board or any burnt out components. I still put it down to a mechanical failure inside the micro sd card reader. Maybe a worn gold contact or something like that.

@@domenicodevivo5318 I'm glad your up and running again as that is a real relief. IC chips can fail from over heating and show no external signs of damage. Be that as it may, keep things cool is always a good bet. Thanks for the reply. Doug

@@doctrainsmodifications5201 Yes, my printer was down for about 5-6 weeks which was painful. But at least the repair work gave me an opportunity to get to know the inside of the printer a little better, which I always find is the best way to learn about anything. Thank you for your input as its always nice to hear from fellow enthusiasts sharing knowledge.

Doubt it, mine card reader fell off the first time I inserted a card. Chinese Crap :-) Waiting on a new Prusa and just using the Snapmaker for the moment since all of my Enders have problems.

excellent video, you changed the motherboard from 8-bit to 32-bit, correct? I'm also waiting for them to send me a 32-bit one from Creality and the BLtouch so I can exchange my 8-bit one.

Thank you and yes you are correct the original v1.1.5 is an 8-bit board, and the replacement v4.2.2 is 32-bit, not to be mistaken for the v4.2.7 which I believe is for an Ender 3. Good luck with the installation and new bl touch accessory, I should really get one of those. :)

Hmmm if it was an original main board, it should be no bigger than 8GB sd card.

Where did you get one that did not need to be Flashed ??? I changed mine and it is said it is for a 5 but made for the 3 and you have to flash it to make it for a 5. BTW my 1st motherboard the slot for the TF card came off the first time I inserted a card :-) I Hate Enders now.

Hi, I got this as a replacement directly from Creality in China. Its true it can be a bit of lottery with tech from China with the sd card reader falling off. Also these printers are technically classed as entry level budget printers but that said the build quality should be better, but their after sales care is improving as now you can contact them directly and they do reply. I can't really fault the service I've received even with the 2 issues I've had with this printer. If I were to up the scale and frequency of of my 3D printing I would invest in either a Prusa, Ultimaker or Lulzbot Taz6, but none of these are cheap options.
