Crazy Underwater Footage Of Bass Attacking Jigs!! **Slow Motion Strikes**

Come along as we head underwater to watch bass interact with their prey! We're using jigs to imitate crawfish and small panfish and the bass can't get enough! Its fascinating to watch how the bass approach the lures, what makes them strike, and what makes them cautious. Some of the strikes are so vicious we needed to switch to slow motion footage to even see the bass attack!
Every time we head underwater we learn something new about bass behavior. In today's clips it was fascinating to watch how the fish inhaled the jigs. When the fish were cautious, they would only bite the claws. When they were made they inhaled the jig in a 2 or 3-step process. In every interaction it was clear the bass were aware of the jig's "claws" and made sure to incapacitate the claws first.
What did you take away from the video? Do you notice any behavioral mannerisms? Did you see a favorite bait or trailer? Perhaps it was the subtle kick of the Paca Chunk, or the violent whipping motion of the Rage Craw?
We threw a huge variety of jigs and trailers to these fish. Below you'll find links to the exact jig and trailer combinations the fish were attacking, along with a few bonus trailers that we've had consistent success with over the years. All of the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit kzread.infoUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.

That bass and his stick chewtoy though...lol. I'm glad you put in that Jewel jig. I've used them for years, back to when Eakin owned the company...they're made a few miles from my property in North Central Arkansas right by Bull Shoals Lake. If you've ever fished Bull Shoals, you know why that bait came to be. Anyhow, thanks for the footage, too cool!

Amazing underwater footage guys. That two-stage bite seems to be common. I've often heard that is because they stun the fish first. Amazing how they carry the lure off sometimes as well. This gives a great picture of what's happening. So funny that the largemouth bit the stick multiple times. I recently caught a bass with just one eye. I am sure they probably also miss often. Probably my biggest takeaway on this one is the light reflection on the bottom. I know getting this was tough and time-consuming. Thanks so much for putting it together. I could watch this all day. 👍

Great video!👍🏻. Kind of like putting a movie in our heads now that we can kind of rely on when we are fishing jigs now. We’re going in with that little extra piece of confidence I think now. What I really find interesting though is no mention of scent or attractant on these jigs. So I’d love to hear from Tim, and Matt about that. I’m very very curious to hear what they have to say on that. I’m a big believer in scent, or attractant. Some are not. So I look forward to hearing about this part of the jig game. Thanks. 👍🏻

For example, if they are always biting the trailer behind the hook, couldn't we use that info to change the bait set up and hook those fish? Do you feel the 2 and 3 step bites and if so, does that change your hook set technique?
