@f687sNFM it's not just the dad. Every character fits story trope archetypes as caricatures, the story elements are recycled, and the writing style is too perfect. I do agree that these people do exist in the wild, but not all together, and the dad in particular seems too inconsistent with his own personality, which changes as the story needs.

If this is in the US, the courts view that it's impossible for women to SA men and are rarely held accountable for their actions. The women in this country basically get away with murder as soon as they turn on the tears, meanwhile men can get put away for years without evidence or trial on nothing more than an accusation.

Honestly, I hear this stories about otherwise "supportive" parents that don't end their toxic marriages at the exact moment they find out their new spouses are mistreating their children, and I lose all empathy and respect for them. If I found out my partner and their kid are picking on my children, it's divorce time. Right then and there. The fact that OP's dad let this situation go on since they were young shows just how "supportive" he was of her all along

Life is more complicated than your black and white opinion. There are things that OP couldn't know, and it's possible that her father was looking for a lawyer the following days after the wedding. Divorce is expensive, and not everyone is financially capable of getting a lawyer that wouldn't fuck you over.

You don't stay together with someone for 10+ years without finding some ways to deal with the pain points in a relationship. For some people those techniques unfortunately include denial and conflict-avoidance. If someone is living with a toxic person over an extended period of time they will likely be a little worn out in their moral fibers. They might also be financially locked to the toxic person, so that a breakup could hurt them in significant ways. Rather than lose empathy for them it could be worth looking into if they are just yet another victim. In this case it seems that the dad was relative quick at doing the correct things.

@@nicolaim4275 exactly this is the reason, why you should look very closely at your partners relationship with your children right from the start, BEFORE you marry them and also at the beginning of the marriage. You might give everyone few months to adjust to each other, but if the abuse doesn't stop, you end it. Not only for the sake of your child, but also for your owns sake. Because an adult misstreating a child can't be a good person or partner. They will screw you over earlier or later as well. And this is exactly what happened here.

I find it interesting who some women feel self-conscious about having a few extra pounds when most of the straight guys I know, especially the muscular ones tend to actually prefer curvy women. I'm not talking about being morbidly obese or anything, but most of the time the "extra weight is completely fine. So it doesn't surprise me that kyle here was head over heals for the OP, she seems nice, intelligent, and is probably more attractive than she thinks she is, which is also a nice quality lol, if she is funny too then she is the whole package.

@@BaeBunni It is biology. Women’s bodies default to storing fat in hips, breasts, and thighs while men’s bodies default to stomach. Also, the fat stored in women’s hips and thighs is the “good fat” that contains all the necessary nutrients for breastfeeding, which is likely part of the reason why men tend to be more attracted to “thicc” women than they are to skinny and obese women.

Or tried to be moral, but universe and closest people keep shutting me down, like I'm the one at fault and deserve to be punished', thats been their only experience, so external opinion helps in early stages. Probably even putting thoughts and experiences in writing does help shed some of the malicious conditioning, or expel it from the mind, since a lot found solace in diaries and confessions to priests and trustworthy seeming people. The only unforgivable part about this story is that she let her mother in law ruin her husband's wedding. Does she know how many years her husband has probably been thinking about his wedding, and that one moment when she appears magically in her wedding dress at the end of the aisle? Well, not knowing what she'll look like in her dress and hair and make-up is a big part of that. You get to have your breath taken away by a kind of ephemeral beauty in that one moment that you'll never see again. She let her mother in law ruin that experience for him. Very sad.

Some of these stories feel believable but I’m not so sure about this one. Gigi and Naomi are way too upfront about their intentions. But if it was I worry about OP taking Kyle’s virtues for granted… as perfect of a partner as he seems, she needs to remember he’s also human. His desire not to see her just before the ceremony could be way more than him trying to respect tradition, but even if that was all it was, maybe it meant a lot to him. I’m not big on the idea of marriage, but what if he wanted to see his bride walking down the aisle and he completely dazzled and fully immersed in that moment? She could’ve drastically decreased the joy of that moment for him, by insisting he help her settle a petty conflict.

My girlfriend probably won’t mind me saying this but we both know that conventionally, I am more attractive than her, and if I wasn’t with her I would have other girls flocking to be my gf, however, I’ve never been one to put lucks first, I’m happily with my gf for who she is as a person (hardworking, kind, funny and determined) and I’m hoping to marry her in the future so I hope nobody in my life will be like “why are you with her, you’re clearly out of her league
