Sodium poisoning is a real thing; nausea at best, heart attack or miscarriage at worst. MIL wanted to eliminate the competition literally.

@@oceansong4797 It's possible but unlikely via salt. If the MIL had poured that much salt into her salad, one bite would have caused OP to spit it out. I frankly don't believe that it was salt. Given that the MIL didn't spit out the salad right away but instead stared at it makes me believe that she poisoned the salad with something more dangerous. Once she realized she had eaten the poisoned salad she went to puke it out.

Sodium in salt can raise the BP, epically if too much salt is taken, disguised in extremely sweet/ sour /spicy combinations dressing where it will not be easily detected under the taste of other stuff. Nausea, vomittibg, headache, strokes or heart attack 😢

Well, I don’t know if it’s happened with adults, there has been two murder cases where mothers killed their children with sodium poisoning. Meaning, they force these children to eat humongous amount of salt. The one child didn’t even know because the mother had Munchhausen by proxy, and had convinced the doctors at that time that he needed a feeding tube. So she was putting the saltin his food mixture. He ended up dying in the hospital.

Though it definitely wasn't as dangerous and they didn't "earn it" through an apology that was at peast written properly I do recommend moving any interaction you have to video calls/facetime. If she laments about not being able to see or hold the kid, then privately remind her that she has to earn that trust over the years. If she's convinced a guy to marry her after the shit she pulled she's too good at deception and you can't take the risk. If the guy saw the shit she pulled and decided he had the energy to help her turn around and possibly seek therapy to the point where they're now married, he's good and there might be hope but you can decide about that later. Video calls aren't 100% safe since they can still hurt you with words but at least the baby's food won't be spiked with salt as a deadly prank lol

I never expected too much salt would make a person vomit. In high school home economics we did an experiment on the five taste sensations and long story short, I got a spoon full of salt. Pure salt. Aside from instantly having a mouth dryer than the Sahara and needing a long drink at the drinking fountain, nothing even close to vomiting happened. So I can’t image mixing salt, even a large portion, into some salad would cause it. Maybe from the pregnant person, but anyone else? I just don’t see it.
