If i remember right they arranged the actual rights to different holding company and just license to the one that did the crowdfunding(rights of intellivision name etc) At least tommy was putting the entertainment into intellivision entertainment providing memes on at least weekly basis, phil has put in like 12 hours of work in a year so its not even like that tommy is in the back seat or something, theres nobody in the car - phil isn't doing anything at all. All they've done is moved some rights to bbg under undisclosed amount of money(if any) so that they can try to sell the games without paying the crowdfunded investors(which is against the agreement and part of that undisclosed sum would belong to the crowdfunders)

Selling off the IP is shockingly shortsighted. This is what some movie companies did before the home video revolution. It’s why Warner Bros. own The Wizard of Oz and Gone with the Wind, not MGM, who made the movies. It feels like they’re entering the private investment firm era where they sell off anything of any value and leave the company to wither away. Really sad, given what Keith Ronbinson and the Blue Sky Rangers had done to keep the name going.

The selling of the Intellivision IP's is the saddest postscript to the entire Amico fiasco. Maybe there weren't that critical in the grand scheme of gaming, but they did distinctly belong to that company and deserved the kind of preservation/media museum like an Atari 50 to highlight them. So many elements to the industry prior to the crash are already being lost to the dustbin of history and its a damn shame that certain titles are now being sold off piecemeal because of Tommy's ego and mismanagement. It puts into perspective just how damaging he really was. He didn't just fail to revive the company in any significant way; he made the name Intellivision a laughing stock and rendered it less of a complete brand than it already was.

The amazing thing is that there were so many people who thought these games were worth buying a $200+ console for. I really have to try and go easy on the poor nostalgia-blind folks who backed this, because I struggle with wanting to label them as blind morons. I was too young to have played Intellivision, the NES and Master System were what I grew up with, so I'm trying to cut people slack since they got completely ripped off and lied to (on a millions of dollars scale), but I don't see how this wasn't laughed offstage at E3. Who would take this crap onstage at E3, and think this looked good? Who would back this on crowdfunding sites? I feel bad for all the people who got ripped off, but it is equally clear that even if the console had been released, it still would have been a rip off, a massively underwhelming console that would have been doomed to failure even if it released in a working state. It's crap. Tommy and crew put the least amount of effort into the games and console, too much money and thought into the stupid gimmicks and gimmicky gamepad, and all their effort went into smoke, mirrors, and some shoddy marketing videos filled with happy crappy lies and fake statistics. This was 100% never meant to be a successful console. Maybe it wasn't a "take the money and run" scam from the beginning, but the people on the inside that weren't drinking Tommy Kool aid had to know this would flop if it released.

I know Shark Shark is an old Intellivision name, but can we all agree that the name absolutely is stupid. When this stupid venture was thought up, it was 2018 and by then we had many better names by now. Shark Shark and all its ilk should have been on an Atari 50's classic type cart, then use that to make more games. A modern Moon Patrol with fun cartoony graphics for example could be great.

The funny thing about Atari is that a number of years ago they did in fact try to sell off their IP. Thankfully, they only managed to sell Battlezone - which is kinda bad enough when you consider it's absence from Atari 50.

At least Atari's buying IPs now. Stern (Berserk) and even M-Network games. That kind of pivot isn't uncommon when there's been at least 2 re-orgs in 13 years. I don't know the terms of the Battlezone sell so it might either revert after a certain time or could be 'repurchased' with first right of refusal.

I am a less-than casual gamer, but have wanted to get into gaming more. I played a lot more in the late 80's/early 90's when I was a child. I was too young (born in 1981) to play Intellivision when it came out, but have fond memories of playing my older cousin's and younger aunt's (two separate people, I promise) Intellivision at my Grandma's house during the summers when I was in elementary and middle school. So, when I caught wind that a new Intellivision was coming out, I was pretty interested in the concept. I had no idea who Tommy Tallarico was, or any of the backstory. I'll even admit to some animosity towards Pat & Ian for trashing it (Sorry guys! In my defense I didn't know the whole story until pretty recently). But luckily for me, I was never as invested psychologically (and thankfully financially) as the full-on Kool-Aid drinkers; for me it was more of a passing interest and a "That would be neat". Fast-forward a couple years, and I am thoroughly enjoying Tommy Tallarico eat shit. It's always fun watching a malignant narcissist self-aggrandize their way into their just desserts. As for the concept itself, if they had just stuck with a low-powered console with some basic, casual games for under $150 (on top of not having a raging megalomaniac in charge) and actually come out with the product, I bet they could have had a small but dedicated niche following. But, narcissists can't do small-thing-appreciated-by-a-small-number-of-people.

Intellivision Entertainment, as far as we know, still owns the STIC and the EXEC source code and programs. Without them, those games that no longer belong to them cannot be sold in their original form unless it’s reversed engineered, licensed or the copyright on those ROMs is phased out and goes PD. But it gets worse. Because Atari owns the M Network games, just like with the Dynablaster workaround, they can make clones of Astrosmash, Night Stalker, Discs of freaking Tron and even the better version of Kool-Aid Man without their permission (except for Mondelēz’s, perhaps). Technically, Intellivision Entertainment now just owns an eye-sore of a typeface and a basic running animation of a generic lowres pixel representation of a man, in other words: Nothing! Completely worthless. Steven and Liv should be very thankful of having adopted the Tyler surname. (2/2)

    1. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't give Slope's Game Room a review unit after he featured Tommy and the Amico in one of his KickScammer videos lol. 2. I would argue back in 2018 the console wasn't a horrible idea, just terribly executed as Tommy didn't know where to focus, and rather kept trying to compare to the Wii when what he was proposing to offer was an extremely watered down version of why the Wii was as successful as it was. The Amico would have: no games above 10+. No online multiplayer, and by extension would be safe to assume no streaming capabilities. Etc The Wii had a range of games for all ages. Online multiplayer Later added netflix streaming A library of backward games to fall on. Etc. Bringing up 2020 the pandemic also didnt help bring confidence to the console when we were shown a time where online reigned supreme for obvious reasons. Sadly it made the whole main pitch of getting friends and family together for game night a laughing stock. PR also wasnt helped with Tommy considering majority of gamers ( which when you stop to think about is terrible because a good chunk of them were people who grew up with titles he worked on) basment dwellers lol. Geez Tommy really single handedly built a ship and sunk it down lol.

Er, it's not like they're rooting for it to lose. They just didn't see it as super viable, and then Tallarico got butthurt because they misquoted the cost and were worried about the target demographic. Now here's where it gets interesting, because usually people don't put their foot in their mouth while their head is lodged really far into their ass because it is physically impossible, but not only did he do so, he managed to do it repeatedly so that he was effectively fucking himself up the ass. It was really pretty incredible and I hope he's *really* into feet because he got a mouthful You can't do that on any other console either, only Amico
