Crashing Into Saturn: This Cassini Mission Is the Most Epic Yet | Short Film Showcase

Ойын-сауық

In this stunning animation, watch NASA's Cassini spacecraft begin the last chapter of its 20-year mission to Saturn. Diving deeper into Saturn's rings than ever before, scientists hope that the data from Cassini's final orbits will help to improve our understanding of the giant ringed planet. The probe's last act will be to plunge itself into the planet's atmosphere, where it will burn up and become part of the planet itself.

Honestly I would be crying for these groundbreaking amazing machines before they've even been shipped onto the rocket just knowing that I'll never ever see it again but knowing it's going to be doing us a great service while it's out there in the cold dark reaches of space such as Voyager 1 which amazingly is still functioning and still talking to us

So that we have a sense of mission for the lonely journey of an inorganic little robot. Why does this make me tear up every single time? Is it the music? Is it the atmosphere (no pun intended) of the video? Is it the magnificent words she is saying? Is it the death of a machine? Is it realizing the incredible, cool, fascinating feats humans are capable of? Is it ALL of it? Yes, yes it is.

They show us a machine performing a mission, they humanize it, that's why they say it's "fighting back the atmosphere to keep its antennas pointed at earth". You get emotional cause you see "SOMEONE" sacrificing till the last second for us. If you think about that, that's what makes you cry. That's an archetype story right there, in fact it bears similarity to jesus's story.

What a time to be alive... too early to be able to explore distant worlds and the wonders of our universe. Too late to live in ignorance of the beauty and grandeur of it all. But now is when our dreams begin to take shape, and we first venture into the unknown of space. I hope that many lifetimes from now people will look back at this as proof that when humans set their mind to something, we can achieve the impossible.

Beautiful yet sad, such a strange mix. If I have been in this hobby much earlier, would have attempted to catch Cassini plunge haha although it is impossible. Happy to have catch a few videos of Saturn with its ring though.

Cassini was the first Space mission I followed, at an age of five, and the one that pushed me on loving studying space and astronomy. This video gets me on tears everytime, thanks space Agencies for pursuing the beauty of space exploration and space science studies
