Best video I've seen on replacing the fuel line on this chainsaw and some of the Poulan chainsaws that are similar to this one. He actually shows you the steps one needs to take. Recommended

Carb kit is Walbro K10-WAT. I always hit flywheel nuts with a couple of raps with my battery powered nut driver. I took an new Briggs and Stratton foam filter and cut it to match the slot. I put a light coating of 30W engine oil on the foam, afterwards. It has worked fine for me. Any sawdust that gets through the carb will play havoc on the engine and reed valve underneath the carb.if you thought replacing the carb was tough, jut weight until you have to replace the reed valve. You have to disassemble just about the whole saw. I did that this week, too.

I have one of these chainsaw bought it in 70's, runs great, fuel mixture is 16 to 1. I replaced the fuel line several time ,it's a metal tank, most parts is not available, only carburetor kit. I use small wire hooked to fuel line and pull it through. It doesn't have a primer bulb, the choke draws the fuel to carburetor way they designed it to work, I work on all type of small engines. Great video ye did. Thanks

one of the most useful tools on the planet......curved pair of medical hemostats. I have used mine on so many fuel line-related things. from cars to chainsaws!

Just ran mine without taking flywheel off. Key is to cut fuel line end (end that will end up in tank) at a slope, start at carb and run it down and wiggle back and forth till it gets down behind flywheel then needle nose threw second hole and then the fun part of getting it into tank. Getting it into tank is hardest part unless you want to take the bottom of tank off which I didn't because that gasket is probably going to fail once you do.

Looks identical to my 70's Poulan Super 250A. I'm gonna rebuild the carburator based on your video. The low adjustment screw is broken so I'll just adjust it while its off the machine to the turns that the manual says.

It looks like my Poulan Super 25 DA, except mine is the Poulan orange. I bought mine new in 1985. Yours is slightly different from mine. Mine has a 1/2 inch bolt holding the bar on, but the original owner could have lost the original bolt. Otherwise it looks the same. Mine has a piece of foam in the slot in front of the carb. I replaced the original piece of foam years ago. I just replaced the fuel line in my little Poulan a few days ago. I replaced the filter at the same time. It uses a weighted filter to keep it at the bottom of the tank. You have to apply some upward pressure on the flywheel when you hit the end of the crank. It is called cutting the end of the fuel line on a diagonal. I see you have the sam Walbro WT 83 carb that my saw has. I have four or five sets of hemostats, all different sizes and shapes.

Thank you for this very good video. I also have an older model craftsman chain saw 358.598941 for which i was not able to locate a manual for and it just happens that it looks almost identical to this saw.

Thanks Chris I have been trying to replace line without removing fly wheel. You do want a air filter. Dean

Before you lose those small "connectors" you pulled off of your fuel line, check to see if they're not 1 way valves.

I've checked, they're just connectors. In saws and weedeaters with prime bulbs, those things are used on the end of the return line simply to keep the line from pulling out of the tank.

Chris, I have the Poulan 25 Super which looks the same as your Craftsman. It is new never run, still in the box from an estate that I am the executor. It has been in the attic for I don't know how long. All the fuel line was gone. I replaced the fuel line by watching your video on the Craftsman. It will run as long as I keep spraying fuel into the carb, but quits when you don't. No fueI from the tank. I figure that the diaphragm is probably in the condition of the fuel line. My question, after all that is, do you know a source for a rebuild kit on the carb. Enjoyed the video and was very helpful. My next step is to go into the carb but I would like to have some parts when I do. The air filter also crumbled into a million little pieces. Thanks Bobby

Hello and thanks for commenting! Rebuild kits for those carbs are still available, I usually get mine from eBay. Just make sure that you look up the kit using the make and series of the carb itself, not the make and model of the saw. My saw has a Walbro WA series carb, if I remember correctly.

Hello, there is no return line on this model. Only saws with primer bulbs will have a return.

If you're on Facebook, you should join my group called Vintage Chainsaw Collector's Corner (buy, sell, trade, discuss). I'm sure someone on there can help with that.

@@cobhc1986 Thank you!! There are a number of videos on how to replace this fuel line and many viewers ask the question as to the specific size of fuel line that will seal nicely in the fuel tank so it won't leak AND carry the fuel to the carb. YOURS is the only one that gives us the proper size to order!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you.
