@16min - HOLY SHIT HELL YEAH!!! Watched the 1st half more than once and just re-watched that and then this part-2 vid and the entire time wouldn't let myself fast-forward real quick to see if you did ultimately get it working, I literally was beaming like a total dork when I heard you say you got it running (I give 2 hoots about this obscurity because I'm in the middle of rebuilding, and hopefully even improving, a '77 Poulan 25d which seems the closest of Poulan's XXV series to your CM 2.1 here. I'm done with fuel lines/filter, replaced the cracked/broken sprocket&clutch assembly although I had to do something kinda/very risky - removing a pillar from the bearing-cage at the center spot of the clutch IE where it mates to the axle, was swapping it in from a much newer Poulan and it seemed it was a 100.0% fit until I tried it only to find it was like 1/10th MM too tight for the 25d's axle!) What became of this saw? Would love to hear any&all updates, hell if it did end up working-out it'd be stellar to see a vid where someone's not only done one of these & documented it (yours is one of precious-few as you know) but an update to hear what you thought of it if you did get it working, for instance I climb and I use a 25.4cc top-handle when in-canopy and am not restoring my 25d *just* because it's a very cool thing to do(*IMO) but because I love the idea of having a '77 bright green top handle in actual production-use, am not quite at production-capacity yet myself but have done some sub-contracting work for local companies and intend to get a full time gig at one soon if I can't get far more contract-climb work (I've only recently begun 'marketing myself' as I only recently got the remainder of the absurd amount of stuff necessary to safely control heavy logs that're gonna free-fall and need to be caught, have a 26k lbs strong rope lol and then a 24 then 19k then 11k then 6.5k for my main ropes now it was far more involved than I'd initially guessed!) Ok enough yapping thanks again for posting these, I'm going to make *some* contribution to the 'data set' for video-info on working this line of saws, still gotta finish it but have been capturing content as I go so I can later make something (provided I succeed of course!!)

Thanks for your comment! I still have the saw, but it's still not quite right. It has problems with flooding and I think I may just have to try and find another carburetor for it. I'll definitely post another video when it's finally fixed.

That’s where a Phillips screw and a magnetized screw driver really works. You can pick up the screw and screw it into the hole. Putting in the lifter and lifter spring can be a pita.

You may have to go to auto part store and get the silcone gasket stuff that comes in a tube kinda just put it on tighten it down then it dries to make a silcone like gasket.

A small gripping screwdriver would really work well for reassembly

OH of course I forget the important thing I wanted to post-- your flywheel being wobbly....I'm not a repairman by any means but have enough find&fix experience with chainsaw/2-stroke problems to know how integral the flywheel//ignition-coil(or "ignition box thingie" lol) is, those things seem to have like *0* tolerance / are super-precise, if your flywheel was able to move a bit then I can only imagine how badly that'd interfere with the sparking of the wire (and thus the running of the engine itself)

There is a check valve in the fuel cap if it is missing you will not get a fuel flow

If the flywheel is moving up and down, you probably need bearings. Bad bearings will wipe out seals.

Does anybody know how to get the pull start assembly back together on these? I'm fixing one for a friend and the rope broke on me so I had to replace it and I can't figure out how to get the spring back in. I've been very close but there's a little nub that's part of the molding and it stops the very end of the spring from going down all the way which caused the wheel to not seat properly. I'm wanting to grind off the nub but I don't know if it has a purpose I don't wanna ruin it

Did you ever f[nd crank seals and get this saw running?

I have no old craftsman 14" chainsaw model 358-352070. I think it needs a new carb. Can you tell me what walbro carb. replaces it. The parts sheet says it is a wa-19 carb.

You’ll probably have to find another wa-19 carb, I doubt there are other models that can replace it. I normally have good luck with rebuilding carbs, but sometimes the whole carb has to be replaced.

Sounds like something is clogged up in the primer or a stuck check valve. If your primer bulb is part of the carb, there will be a plastic "purge body" directly beneath it. Sometimes the check valves in that body get stuck. You might have to replace the purge body. If your primer bulb is separate and connected with fuel lines, just squeeze the tabs on the back of the bulb assembly to pop it out and replace with a new one. Make sure to remember which hose goes to which port on the primer, they don't work right if the lines are hooked up backwards.

From the looks of the gasket under the carb that could seriously be your air leak...

6:45 is a filthy debris filled screen.... that prevents fuel flowing well. obvious problem place.

I've got a Poulan identical to yours, under my bench. Tookk it all apart for the same reason, would not stay running. Found most of the parts and gaskets I neede, but unfortunately, the crank seals are no longer available. They are a Husqvarna part. If you'd like, I can get you the part number.

@@cobhc1986 Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, didn't get back to my shop til just now. The part number for the seal is 530 01 90-51. Hope this helps you out. If you are able to source them, let me know, I still need 1. Also not available, is the gasket for the lower half of the fuel tank, so I never seperate mine.

What is initial setting for h and l jets? Rebuilt but was wondering if I should start both at 1.5 out? Tyia

I usually do 1 to 1-1/4 turns on both and fine tune from there once it's running.

I use Power Care 40:1 2 cycle 92 Octane premix my little red beast loves it It's made for Craftsman, Poulan and Troybilt.

Mr. Hester, I have the same saw. It was my fathers' who has since passed and I really want to fix the saw. Do you know where to get a replacement carb? I have called around and no one seems to know where to get one. Or, a rebuild kit?

Rebuild kits are plentiful, I buy mine from eBay. I believe the carb on mine is a Walbro WA series. Unfortunately, i think mine needs the whole carb replaced, so I will have to track down a parts saw. These are actually Poulan saws, but I forget the equivalent Poulan model number. If you use Facebook, join my group called Vintage Chainsaw Collector's Corner. If you need a parts saw, someone there will probably have one, but i would try a rebuild kit first.
