OurHalfAcreHomestead Love your videos!
I have watched your videos for years and I think I am ready to give canning a try. I took quilting classes right after I watched you put a grandmother's flower garden quilt together. Thank you for all your knowledge and sharing it with everyone. God Bless and take care, until the next one.
I love that Mr. Volfie is just standing there waiting impatiently for his toast..lol My dad used to do that when I would make food too. Mom would tease him about it because she cooked for him every day but when I came over or they came to my house he acted like he hadn't eaten in a month..lol
I just finished making your crabapple jelly…never done that before! They came out so gorgeous! I love putting up free food! I try to add a new canning skill every year. Thank you Bev for all the help and inspiration! I got 14 half pints and 2 pints.♥️♥️♥️♥️
I've missed watching your videos! It's like revisiting an old friend. This is my absolute favorite jelly. Brings back such fond memories of my Mom and our neighbor making huge batches of this❤️ I've recently lost my dog of 17 years. He was my world. This video has cheered me up a bit. God bless sweet lady!
Thanks for your valuable demonstration of the Crab apple jelly making. I will look forward to seeing more form you.

I love this video! You speak so calmly and to the point. It really helps my brain. I used this recipe last year and it was perfect. I always have to kinda rewatch or relearn things I dont use year round. Here I am again this year happy to have this video to give me the confidence to get that perfect crab apple jelly again! Thank You!
Thanks Bev, I was on the hunt for a recipe. Looks delicious 😋.
Thanks so much for this wonderful, clear, concise video!! You helped me figure out what "sheeting" it and I was successfully able to make both the jelly AND the apple butter (though for the latter, I looked up another video). Both came out perfectly and taste divine! Thank you so much!!
I wanted to make crab apple jelly and I'm so happy I came across your soo simple recipe and I am going to try this as soon as I get crab apples! Thank you so much!
Excellent video… Very short and simple… Just subscribed 😊 May God richly bless you…
You are so sweet to watch. My husband would have brought home bread too! I love to watch others enjoy my cookin. Heck, I don’t even mind if my kids critique it, so long as they are there to help the next time so they can learn too. Now I want a crabapple tree!
Bev, you have taught us so much over the years, thank you for your tutelage. My daughter bought a Crabapple tree last year and two other apple trees, I’ll send this video to her, who knows maybe I’ll get a pint of Crabapple Jelly🤔
Can't wait to try this! I get so much crab apples and this season looks amazing. Thank you for this video!
Just harvested a whole load of crab apples from a tree in my garden & I am going to make jelly! I make all sorts of jams but have never used crab apples before! Greetings from Ireland.
I made your recipe 2 years ago and it was so good I’m doing it again! Last year our crab apples were minimal but this year there are more than enough. Thank you so much for this delicious jelly recipe!

Hi, so cute jelly for the belly. Thank for the video. Someone offered us to come pick their crab apples this year but we never got there. 😢 Now I know what to do. Thanks Mrs. V
Wonderful. The clarity alone makes me want to make this. Thank you for sharing. When we were kids a neighbor had a tree, they didn't mind us getting the apples . Mom would make jelly and always give them some. We would always have a contest to see who could eat one till it was gone. Those sour candies they make today have nothing on nature's own! 😂😂

Beautiful jelly. I made some refrigerator peach butter. So good. It lasts 2 weeks but around me it will not last too long. I also froze peaches corn on Cobb and some tomatoes to use in chilli.
My mother used to make crabapple jelly from a neighbors tree when I was young. I was not a fan but the color in the jars is beautiful.
Love the info!! Thanks so much!😁

That looks beautiful. Perfectly clear. That wooden spatula is perfect for making preserves too, gets right into the elbow of the pan, no danger of sticking or burning. This is the RIGHT way to make Jams & Jellies. Gel-right or whatever get gone. Try that with Roast Pork, or Chops or anything Pork-y sublime!

My grandmother used to make Crab Apple Jelly but I never paid any attention to what she was doing. The only part of the process I was involved in was picking up the crab apples and putting them into a bag. Now I know what to do, I'm going to try it for myself. Just as soon as I have some crab apples (It's May right now)
Thank you for this! I have never made jams or jellys... I tried crab apple jelly today, and it turned out to be bright red!. Its so beautiful!.. I tried a bit of the juice, and it tastes amazing.. I am shocked i managed to do it!! Thank you!!!

@@OurHalfAcreHomestead very good to know. Silly question and I think I know the answer but still wanna ask. Have you made apple butter with crab apples or can you?
Once again, you’re an inspiration. You are an excellent teacher. I don’t have crab apples, but I have a bag of small Asian pears. I’m gonna see if it works similarly. I’m guessing it’ll need an acid. I may infuse some mint instead of cinnamon and add lime juice for acid. The pulp, if tasty, I can turn into fruit leather. And this morning, I was debating what to do.... like you... don’t like to see something go to waste.
LOL...Rollin' in the jelly and "Shheeetin" from a spoon... Love it sis...looks amazing.

Love love the pillow case ! 😊
That is such a beautiful color jelly, I love apple cinnamon ... I bet that is just delicious!!! Papa sure wanted some of that jelly bad to go to store to get bread ... LOL
Your videos are amazing and beyond helpful! I was just wondering when you boil the apples in the beginning, how many apples to how much water? Should it just kind of just cover the apples?
thanks for the great tutorial. our jelly was a success and now, as you mentioned, we would love to use the pulp for applebutter. do we follow any old apple butter recipe or do you do something different?
Hi Bev, thank you for sharing! I had a ton of crabapples this year. I made as much jelly as I could with the amount of jars I had. Do you know if I can freeze the remaining crabapple juice? I wasn't sure if this would ruin the pectin... Let me know your thoughts! Thank you.

It's like apple pie on toast!
Hello Homestead!!, Thanks for this tutorial I made Jelly yesterday and my apples kept their form after nearly 5 hours of simmering..I tried to replicate the texture of your cooked apples but mine wouldn't break up but they were soft. I also dripped mine for much shorter time of 2-3 hours. I hoped to share a photo as my Jelly is rather red but set very quickly. Also the amount of sugar scared me, is the quantity necessary as next time I may half it.
sounds delicious! Thank you for sharing this :)

Looks so pretty
Hey Bev. I appreciate this video! We bought a house 2 years ago, and it has several cherry, mulberry, and 1 crab apple. I've never canned jelly till this year. My trees haven't produced in years because they weren't taken care of properly. We're trying to bring them back. Out crab apple finally produced this year, but they were tiny. About the size of the end of my thumb with the fingernail. Is that normal? It would take a whole lot to make jelly. Are these eatable?
So much knowledge here! Is this something I can put in the oven to can? I don’t have a stock pot 😭
Looks Great !! xo
Never knew what crab apples looked like. Didn't know you could eat them. Thanks!
Looks beautiful. I bit into a crab-apple as a young child and it sucked all the saliva from my mouth. I bet it taste great with sugar. I wouldn't try it without.
Never made jelly before and would like to try,can you explain sheeting again please, and how long do you boil it for? Thanks for the video, God bless

You got this 👍
@ Mrs. Volfie , You should have a giveaway and give some of your jarred jams away ( I would definitely do whatever to be able to participate in that ..just a thought 😄😘 what do you think ?) Also Jelly & Jams are the one thing that my husband and I just will not do. I don’t have the patience and don’t have the energy to do the clean-up and jarring time afterwards. I deal with chronic rheumatoid arthritis and suffer from not being able to stand up for long periods of time, and jelly/jams just take too much of my energy. And ESPECIALLY because jams are so messy and can get very sticky really fast. I will on the other hand purchase already homemade jams at the my local farmers market, I know the vendors and it’s easier to just buy them from somebody who is healthier and who can deliver an organic locally sourced top quality product. This recipe does look amazing though ! -MARTIN♥️
Love the colour and clarity of your jelly. Can you tell me how long it took to get to the sheeting stage? From the time it started to boil? My jelly always seems to take forever
