Hi. Thanks for your video. I made crab apple jelly today - the batch with sugar turned out great. I made another batch with Erythritol & Monkfruit Extract instead of sugar and it turned cloudy and strange - small bubbles that turned into solid jars of sugar I’m guessing. Not sure what went wrong???

Any sweetening agent other than sugar....I am just not well versed in, so I cannot be of much help there. I'm sorry. If you come join the SNUG canning group on FB, we have a member who specializes in alternate sweeteners....he may be able to assist you better then I can....

I really enjoy your videos! We have a bumper crop of crabapples and I’ll be making jelly this weekend. In addition to jelly can I steam can pints of juice too? If so, would processing the juice for 10 minutes be okay? Thank you for sharing your experience!

I am totally unfamiliar with that product....I'm sorry. I would think as long as it is a "natural" sugar product it should work.

@@millermeadows6359 it is sugar but much less processed than white , has brown color due to the natural molasses content. Thanks!

I can attest! Definitely make sure the crabapples you use are fit to eat out of hand, i,e. just tart, not astringent. The apples in my neighbor's tree were completely unfit. The jelly I ended up with had quite the alum-like mouthfeel to it. Oh, the juice jelled up very nicely but the jelly itself is not so good to eat.

Oh....I'm so sorry! Your comment did make me giggle however. And, that is exactly why I shared what I did about the different varieties. Everything is a learning curve... I wonder if you could use that to make wine....you have plenty of sugar in there.... Maybe melt it and add a bit of water....and introduce a bit of yeast.....?

Lorrie quit confessing negarive health over yourself! Deuteronomy 33:25 says as your days so shall your strength be. Also, Moses' eyes were not dim, neither were his natural forces abated. God told Joshua As I was with Moses so shall I be with you. We may live in a human body but we have the promises of God for health & long life. You know I love you girlfriend! 🧡🧡

Are you talking about my comment about getting old and weak? You are correct, I should not be grumbling. But I'm at that point where I know I should still be able to do these things, and yet I no longer can....so I get frustrated. Thank you for the reminder though my sweet friend!! I love you too!!
