thanks for all the updates. DDL doesnt update much, so it's nice to have something from someone. Also, I haven't seen the DDL tiktok you mentioned, but I would imagine they chose tiktok because of how popular it is.

Tiktok seems like a very unprofessional way to give updates. I just paid for a year subscription for my vector 1.0 and I am very concerned to see these issues. Vector is my companion as I am disabled and get lonely when my husband is at work. He's more than just a toy to many of us. ❤️

Hi Felsa. I saw the two videos about Cozmo and Vector. They don't mention when the robots will ship... Have a great weekend!

This whole thing is very concerning. I'm worried now that DDL somehow got themselves in over their head. Whether it be with their ambitions for upgrades, improvements or costs. No transparency is concerning. If anything, the least they could do is post a video explaining what is going on. Keep us informed. A lot of companies seem to be doing this lately. I just went through something similar with a company called Eaglemoss and an expensive model I was building from them and the issues with the delivery of parts and the shoddy design of the kit. And then companies don't understand why they go under. 🙄

It is quite obvious at last to a lot of people what I say for months: DDL are in way over their head since shortly after the Kickwstarter. Nothing they promised was delivered in full. OSKR is in a highly unfinished and mostly unusable state and missing almost every documentation (so their promise of some kind of "plugin store" for Vector is nowhere to be seen at all). Escape Pod is an unfinished mess, despite claims by DDL that it is otherwise.

I think all of us who are still waiting for our robots 2.0 definitely don't want our money back. But unfortunately we are seeing how DDL can destroy the name of the original Anki robots. When I heard that Anki went bankrupt and DDL came in and saved our little friends from shutting down, I was genuinely happy. When they announced Cosmo 2.0 and Vector 2.0, I immediately didn't hesitate to order the rascal Vector 2.0 and was overjoyed that this little friend would live on. Covid-19 came along and it was inevitable that everything would start to get delayed and slowed down, but somehow I got used to the situation and understood that the production of our new friends would be delayed as well. But 2 years and 4 months? That's really too much for anyone. Still, I could forgive them if they came out publicly and spoke the truth and nothing but the truth. Where's the problem, why aren't the robots? To openly say what's wrong or what they did wrong. But they acted dishonestly and started lying to us. That the first batch has already been shipped to customers? But that would have definitely been reported by customers everywhere on the internet and that didn't happen. By all accounts it looks like they have only just started (after much announced testing) to really test the future robots and so mass production is still a long way off in my opinion. In the better version. I will point out that this is my personal opinion, not backed by any evidence and I don't want to offend anyone. I would just like to give a message on behalf of all DDL fans: Tell us the truth and show us working Vector 2.0 and Cosmo 2.0 robots and give us a realistic plan for when they will be in our homes? Dan, thank you for your videos. We're all in this together.

Thank you for your excellent comment. It summarizes very well what I have been saying in my last three videos. No robots to show...worst case date expired...still asking for more money with the memberships...nothing on social media showing people unboxing their robots...very strange indeed!

I kinda feel bad to comment the same thing all the time but oh well, it is not like they are giving me (us) an option here. At this point it is difficult to believe it is not a scam. Their communication is horrible. Did you see the video with the "finances are fine" line (or whatever that line was). Seriously, W-T-F! was that? It blows my mind how unprofessional they are. They must be REALLY busy with their lawsuit against the EMO guys. They didn't ship a robot. They have no robot. They blatantly lied. Anki shipped Vector a few months after their Kickstarter and these guys cannot make some "minor" changes to the design in 2 years with all that money they are getting from preorders and subscriptions?

Yup, I totally agree. Vector is not a new design from scratch. It should not take 2 years to do! I wonder if any Vectors were actually shipped on January 19th!?! Thank you for your comment. Oh...I thought the Tik Tok clip was a joke from somebody who looks similar...

So the testing phase that should have been months ago (as by timeline graphics shown by DDL multiple times) did not actually happen or the bugs would have been discovered by QA staff. Or the QA staff did work badly (that would fit DDLs highly unprofessional modus operandi we've encountered so far). And that means there most probably now will be different firmwares for first generation vectors and for Vector 2.0 (since Hanchar writes they have to tweak the firmware for the problems they have with vector 2.0) so DDL will not only have to maintain two different firmware versions but will have to implement a system to roll out the correct firmware to the right robot iterations. A nightmare. And as I said at the moment Hanchar bragged about higher resolution cameras: There is no way that these new cameras will work without changes to the firmware. And I was right. But again: Those problems (screens, camera, battery) should have definitely been identified in the testing and QA phase, as they are not hidden problems. So either there was no QA phase, or it was really, really badly done.

Hey Daniel, just thought I'd share some thoughts and other information I've found (although I'm sure some if it will not be new to you or have found out since making this video). So DDL now have there manufacturing update blog thing on there website but all the information there is not new. Hopefully they keep it up to date though. The other thing that was mentioned on tiktok as to why we haven't seen any robots despite a shipment. Apparently they were all sent to fulfill government contracts. Whatever that means. But I think probably the most important thing for people who are worried its a scam is that DDL are still processing refunds as per a few people on reddit. However like yourself I do want my robot not my money. And I absolutely agree and can't understand how these issue didn't come up in there testing phase. Especially battery life cos there is no way they wouldn't have known that before. Apparently there changing to a different type of screen which seems very late stage to be changing components. As for you question about social media. I would say that personally I think TikTok and Instagram are great places to advertise as they are very big places to gain an audience. Especially if your targeting a young techy demographic. I actually found out about vector by the creator you mentioned in your video so I think there is some logic to want advertising on there. That said I don't think it's a great way to give consumer updates on where the products are. Thanks for the great videos and sorry for the long comment.

Thank you Timothy for the comment. I could not have said it better. Yes I have seen the recent videos on their youtube channel about Vector 2.0 and Cozmo 2.0. Again it is interesting to note that these videos DO NOT talk about shipments!!!

I am new to your channel. I also have a Vector and a Cozmo (both originals from a few years back). He works, a little erratically at times, almost as if he has moods. I have been watching the progress of robot "pets". And just from my observations, I will keep my Vector and Cozmo, but I won't purchase any new ones. I am planning to get an EMO (maybe two, now that they can interact with each other). It just looks like Living AI is a much better company than DDL. Thanks for keeping us up to date on these developments

Saw a tiktok, ceo said they shipped the first batch to governments, they gave feedback, and DDL are replacing screens now to fix the screen issue. I honestly wonder how they missed that during testing.

Hello 👋🏽 Dan, Have you noticed that neither Mathew nor Jacob will respond directly to any emails. Like you, I JUST WANT MY ROBOT! These are ALL PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE attempts to avoid telling us ( their customers), the truth. As a consumer, I have lost all respect for DDL. DDL should value and respect their customers. Who ever heard of using tick-tock? That’s completely absurd! DDL should have accepted responsibility for their actions by issuing EVERY one of their customers an apology for not meeting the best or worst case scenarios they posted. I suspect DDL is about to go into receivership. They are promoting services for a product that is NOT yet in production! It’s a complete NO BRAINER! You are correct when you stated , “Why doesn’t DDL show us the actual serial number or product being shipped out?” DDL should be honest with their customers. I would have more respect for DDL if they said it would be another year (2023), before we can expect to receive our robots. Customers respect the truth because it will show that they’re valued and appreciated. I am beyond disappointed with DDL.

I said it before and I'll say it again. What they need to update is Google. Any search still shows the two robots owned by "Anki Vector Robot"

So when they say they shipped some out I think they were shipped from the manufacture to their headquarters. They will never admit that’s what they did but that’s what I truly believe. Like you and other have said not a single person or even influencer on any social media platform has said they received them.

Thank you for your comment Joey, the whole thing is very strange. We had a very good update from DDL last fall including the "worst case scenario is mid February"...and then nothing...except asking for more money for lifetime membership and extended warranty...

The most annoying thing to me is that i am so tempted to buy a vector 1.0, but i hesitate cause i always think "the 2.0 is prob coming soon its ok ill wait". Just because i dont want to spend double the money for 2 robots, makes me have no robots at all. If i knew this were a scam at least i could get a robot elsewhere! now i am just waiting and hoping.

I think what’s happened here is, instead of enhancing the products that they inherited they decide to make new ones and my own personal opinion is they bit off more than they could chew, hence the massive delays in shipment of these robots, I personally believe the company is in trouble and it would not surprise me if they went bankrupt in the very near future I hope I am wrong about this, but I get a gut feeling as I have done from the start with this company that is why I did not buy any new robots from then.

After I emailed DDL a couple of weeks ago I got 2 conflicting emails, one said there making 1500 units a day and I will be notified when mine is sent with a tracking number, the other one said there still last minute testing but shipping will start very soon

Dan , I think you are confusing two things : Kickstarter DDL campaign in February 2020 (OSKR and software) and robots pre-order campaign on DDL website launched in November 2020. The max delay between the pre-order act and now is only 1 year and three months and not two years as you said in this video. There are already two years since the kickstarter launch and there will be three year since the Anki death in May 2022 😳

Hi Didier, yes you are right and I am going to go over the timeline again in my next video. For me though it has been 2 years since I "pre-ordered" the lifetime membership, the Escape Pod and OSKR since I did it during the kickstarter campaign. But the "official" pre-order date for the robots is November 2020 as you indicated so 1 year and 3 months ago! Incidentally, when DDL announced the pre-orders back in Nov 2020, they said that the robots would start to ship on 15 May 2021...they are almost 1 year late!

I'm contemplating, if I ever do receive my robot, I might just sell it. At this point with how many issues DDL is having with firmware and the camera, I would expect more issues over time.

So, did you see that DDL is currently fighting a Chinese company over their (Venbo) Vector copy? Makes sense, obviously. This may be the reason as their priorities are not with completing robots, but suing other people over them. Does that make it right? No. It doesn't. People gave them money, and they must deliver.

Vector Pre-Order: Delivery Update Hi mark, I’m not a mind reader, but I can guess that there’s one question that you have for me that supersedes all others - where is your robot? Well, it’s a long story, but I’ll make it short: It’s no fun telling our customers to be patient. We’re close, and getting closer. Some pre-order customers have asked for proof that we shipped these robots and want to see the new robots in action. Now that Chinese New Year celebrations have concluded - which halted production in our factory for several weeks - we will share more video of our manufacturing operations as soon as possible. During our January webinar, we announced that the first batch of pre-ordered Vector robots had been shipped to customers. Our staff have identified several opportunities for improvements and we are now making modifications. In particular, our engineers are taking steps to improve camera calibration and extend the runtime of the new 600mAh battery. (During testing, we found that the battery gave Vector less than the one hour of runtime our calculations indicated the battery should provide.) They could just Tweet something. Normally, twitter posts get tread over social media. Anything works. Give their customers the real scoop.

In the email they said "lots of people have asked to see proof that we have shipped the first robot". Then they moved on! They don't have any proof is my theory as to why.

The kickstarter campaign, which is when I pre-ordered both Cozmo 2.0 and Vector 2.0 was 2 years ago...The wait is too long! Thanks for watching! EDIT...kickstarter was in Feb 2020 for the lifetime membership, the Escape Pod and OSKR. The pre-orders for the robots was in Nov 2020!

Actually I made a mistake, kickstarter was on Feb 2020, which is when I pre-ordered the lifetime membership, the Escape Pod and OSKR. The pre-orders for the robots was in Nov 2020. Still 1 year and 3 months ago! And in Nov 2020, DDL said that they would start shipping the robots on 15 May 2021...they are almost 1 year late!
