    They say with a 12 string, you spend half of the time tuning, and the other half playing out of tune. Great job on that setup, I'm guessing it took a little longer than you were hoping.

    Great vid. Love your enthusiasm. I have seen suggestions to tune the strings one step down and use a capo on the second fret to help with the 12 strings tension on the neck. I don't have one so I couldn't test it. - Your luthier skills are well represented - :)

    @@Acreustic yeah read that too... But if you set them up correctly, you don't need to do that. This one now plays like a six string. Straight neck, low action and the intonation is almost perfect.... To get it any better it would need a different bridge😉

    Lubricating the nut won't help much. The retainer bar still applies pressure on the strings and they'll go out of tune if you bend them. Just... don't do bends on this ;)

  • @j-man9457

    @j-man9457

    23 күн бұрын

    Nope definitely not a bending type guitar haha... Lubricating helps cut down on friction in the nut when tuning. If the strings move smoothly through the nut when tuning to pitch, they tend to hold tune better when playing or strumming hard 🙂

    Had one of those in tele style. Could not get it setup correctly over a years trying. The bridge style is terrible for intonation of 2nd octave strings. I tore it down and saved my upgraded parts.

  • @j-man9457

    @j-man9457

    23 күн бұрын

    Yeah the bridge is definitely a weak point. The only one I couldn't dial in was the low E. To be perfect, the low E saddles needs to come back a little more but the Octave E Saddle needs to move forward but it's already maxed out... So I just split the difference. Only noticeable once you reach the 12th fret. Other than that it's pretty good and it plays great 😃👍!

  • @j-man9457

    @j-man9457

    Yup I did. The only issue was the low E string. I had to split the difference between the Low E and its octave string. Low needed to lengthen more and Octave needed to shorten but octave string adjustment was maxed forward...

    1) 6.5 lbs?!? Seriously?!? For a poplar body, that seems EXTREMELY light-I’m thinking it must be a semi-hollow thinline-style or something. 2) At the 14:00 mark - 20w?!? Does that mean this set has a wound G string?!? That will definitely affect how you intonate the G string versus an unwound G. 3) Congratulations on getting that thing in tune-many 12 string guitars are a NIGHTMARE to keep in tune for very long!!!! 4) If you’re looking for some 12-string songs for your repertoire, there’s always Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway To Heaven,” or The Eagles’ “Hotel California,” of course… Or if you’re looking for something simpler, you could always look at George Harrison’s Rickenbacker 12-string riffs on “You Can’t Do That,” “What You’re Doing,” and “Ticket To Ride.”

    Haha thanks for the song suggestions, but this is going back to it's owner 😉 Cool guitar but not for me... 6 strings are enough hahaha! It's a solid body but yeah extremely light! I think the head with the 12 tuners weighs as much as the body on this thing hahahaha! Yes a would G string and yes intonation was different. Saddle had to be moved forward more so than what I'm used to. So far, tuning stability seems very good with the new set up although the new strings will surely stretch a bit before they settle.😃
