Hi Shane. Nice reaction. You hit it spot on with one of your comments. Courtney sounds so amazing no matter what she is singing, not because she is choosing songs that suit her voice, but because she can sing virtually any style or genre and sound spectacular doing it. Courtney has what may be the most versatile voice in music. Just one of the things that makes her so wonderfully special. The other thing that needs to be mentioned is her off the charts creativity. She didn’t just make this song her own. She dismembered it and re-assembled it as a rock anthem. I don’t know if everyone realizes how rare and special that ability is. Try taking a song you’ve heard repeatedly in one version and try and do something completely different with it. The original is usually so ingrained in your head that it’s what you always revert back to. If it was easy, we’d see all artists doing it, yet it’s only Courtney we see doing this on a regular basis. Not only does she make it her own, but she consistently makes what were huge hits, levels better with her take on them. It is the incredible vocals, the performing skills, the unmatched creativity and some other things you haven’t seen yet, her dynamite guitar skills and what a powerhouse that she is as a song writer, that makes most of us who follow Courtney believe she is the voice and the artist of a lifetime.

I'm one that knows how rare and special her ability is. I've been in music nearly all my life growing up in music by my dad (RIP), but knowing music like I do... this I would be saying female "Elvis" of our time. and the MIC Drop is well deserved, and I know what she meant by it. In the music biz only certain people are allowed to get away with it respectfully which she does here, because she earned it, worked her way all the way to where she is. She never won any of the National Contests and she's been hard working since she was what like 8 years old, which hearing her at that age just fucking blew me away and have said no way, she should be singing like that at age 8 (Prodigy) like Mozart... So, the Mic drop "Yes" well deserved. I've seen a video where she does the song "Stand by Me" and she does a "pic" drop, and the reaction person didn't understand what she did, he was kept saying, what did she just do, but it was pic drop, all the greats have done them like Eddie Van Halen, pic drop awesome... don't think she's up there on the guitar yet to do a "pic" drop, but i gave her the slack, because she just knocked the song out, of the park so... So, her confidence is really getting up there... I figure in a few more years, she's just going to explode...supposedly she has a concert in Austria Aug 19, but as i'm looking the UK and most of Europe including Austria are putting out more Covid restrictions, so I'm assuming that will get canceled even w/their vaccination protocols, because the politics is just absolutly crazy over there. So, I really think the girl should go Independent on her own, create her album and then go from there like that new rap artist "McDonald", which he doesn't seem to be doing to shabby for an independent. yes he's battle against the big record labels, but they aren't really doing shit and have nothing new or going on... so... he's doing pretty good. She should take advantage of that...

Loved your reaction SJ! I had to laugh because I am one of the few apparently who had not heard the original. After listening to Courtney’s cover I went and listened to the original and did not see what all the fuss was about. Haven’t listened to the original since. Anyway I can see by the look on your face that you are really enjoying Courtney. She usually puts her own spin on things and makes it much better IMO. I think she can fit her vocals to most any song. Her voice is incredible. I had been away from music for many years but Courtney brought me back when I heard her by accident on AGT. She is an amazing phenomenon and performer. So glad you are going to continue to follow her. Looking forward to the next.

You will see that word, "Courterized" often, Shane. Where she takes any song, adds her amazing spin to it and elevates it to another level not seen before! 💯🎵🔥🤘 Darren came up with it and it has pretty much stuck when describing the wonderful, out-of-this-world things she does to cover songs! 😄

I think it's been said on another video of yours, but if not, Courtney said she picked the 4 covers from her EP to show a different side of her that others may have not known about her because of her stint on AGT. So she chose these covers to show her softer side and her more upbeat side from covers that weren't the way she would have done them. Also if you look at the room she had to perform in at that studio, she was limited in her movements, which to me made it more anticipated of her going off, but she couldn't. I felt myself wanted to go off for her from watching her in a limited space. Also I think we all agree with you that what other Courtney wants to do she will make it her own. She may change the original so much that the song is hardly recognizable but it will be great and most like better. Courtney has said when she here's a song, sometimes something happens where in her head she hears her own version of that particular song she wants to cover. If she can do that to any song that's not hers, I can only imagine what she's got in store for use when she releases her own music. I also think moving forward, she will continue to get more and more creative as she is still so young and is just beginning to explore what she can do. Some artist run out or ideas at time as they go through there careers. She is so young and likes so many different genres, that I think her creativity will hardly ever peak.

You hit the nail on the head, Shane, when you said Courtney can take any kind of song and make it fit her voice. More to the point, she skillfully manipulates any song to become her own and virtually always better IMO! The video was slightly blurred and had VIDEO BLOCKED irritatingly splashed across the screen, BUT the audio was fine, one could still watch Courtney perform like behind a veil, and that's better than the stop/start/pixellated versions of some other reactors. Good job, stay with Courtney because she's the best there is IMO!

Nice reaction, Shane! This is one of my favorite renditions from Courtney because she turned the song on its head and completely changed the genre, AND it worked soooo well! Yes, Voice Kids UK came first when she was 12 years old (2017), then AGT when she was 13/14 (2018) and now you are covering her 4-songs from her "Cover Sessions" album at 14 (2019), about 2 years ago. This is a phenominal cover by her. In fact it's not a cover. Lil Nas X did the cover, and this is the original (to me). With the content she has put out to date, it never ceases to amaze me how such a young girl has such power. I've heard all of her content countless times. Truth is I am so over it - and that's only because I have been hanging on since this crappy pandemic to hear her original work to begin to get released. As amazing as she has been with covering other peoples work and only giving us sprinkles of original work, I think all Courtney fans want to see her break out. I actually believe the pandemic will help her. It's given her over a year to be behind closed doors picking herself apart and refining what she does. Time will tell. The fourth cover is Sucker. I'm guessing many have requested you react to Courtney doing Love Hurts. Even though the quality of the sound isn't all that great as she played it on one of her Tiktok sessions from her computer, personally I think it's the best of Courtney's work to date. I say that as the difference between 1st and 10th place isn't even a hair. Great reaction BTW.
