I'm not American but from my experience + having Indo-Caribbean family members that live there, your conclusion is probably right :( As a frequent visitor there myself, I've felt like people don't know how to "process" people who aren't White or Black.

Myles Bailey there are a ton of Chinese in the south that have been there for a few generations :)

They are the best example of "age doesn't matter" because they accept and love each other, they didn't take it as a hindrance but instead they use it to teach each others weaknesses. The girl is young so he teach her how to be more mature and the boy is too shy to express his feelings or opinion. Such a perfect couple!

Do you know a lot of asian people in Texas? He has a southern drawl over an eastern asian accent of some kind. A co-worker of mine talks almost exactly like him, but without the drawl

Chassy Tauberman Maybe west Texas or something, but in the austin area I don't know anyone who has a distinguishable accent. The only people I know with noticeable accents are from out of state

In my work, I talk to people from all over the country, including many, many places in Texas, and there's definitely a drawl all over the state. From what I've been told and read about Austin, it's one of the least stereotypical Texas cities in Texas, so that might be why you aren't hearing it.

In the grand scheme of things, it's not even really that big of a difference.

I wish I could find someone who'd look at me like he looks at her, I'm fine being single (I've always been, I'm 26) but sometimes it kinda breaks my heart when I see people looking at each other like that, it makes me lonely. Even if being in a relationship isn't always simple and it has its ups and downs, still I'd like to know how it feels to have someone like that. I wonder what it's like to be loved this way, it seems really special, and I wonder if I'll have that one day...

I love these because ... it makes me realize love still exists and there is someone for everyone!!

It's so assuring to see private types not accustomed to using every bit of mental aptitude for dating minutia, to just be appreciated for what they meant in their intentions and what they say and be effective, some people like myself find public displays sacred and to confess to someone sooo used to it, is daunting. I'm glad he stayed real in who he was and escalated because he knew. Striking out for someone's amusement is dead ideal, accomplished by someone equally in that situation.

We are all 1 race. Just different backgrounds. I wish we stopped referring to colour as race. My hubby is white and im black and we have 2 gorgeous sons. In our house theres so much love and humanity. I just wish when our boys fly the nest the rest of the world was the same. They are going to get a reality shock when they realise not everyone like mum and dad love eachother but instead judge and hate based on their skin tone and ancestry. I'm glad this woman gave this asian man a chance.

Leah star I agree. There’s many of us who once stood with that mindset. Of only seeing people of their race or color of their skin. But also many of us who opened our minds to who the person is. I myself was that person. Very closed minded and only stayed in my own race. But I have changed quite a lot for the better and the people in my life now are not with me because how I look or how they look , is for who we are. But we can’t hate on those who don’t think like that, since they’re experience aren’t the same as ours. We just have to educated them

this is as ignorant as saying "i dont see race" until racism in all forms is somehow eradicated race will continue to be a thing. this way of thinking is like sweeping the problems under the rug. we all experience life differently because of the differences in appearance. its silly, i agree, but thats how people are.

Tai reminds me of this one time my high school besties and I went to a restaurant in Texas (I'm from Texas) and we walked into this Japanese restaurant and met a Chinese-American Texan man with a Southern accent. He came to say hi for a little bit before going to see his other customers and we wouldn't let him leave our table (I know...we were attention seekers lol) but he just seemed sooo cool!! We knew a lot of Chinese-American Texans but none with accents so it blew our minds. Its so cool to see another Asian American person with a Southern accent :)
