I adore how he reenforces the difference between attractiveness and marketability. Sure, he could be "brutally honest" and a jerk, but instead he's upfront about career success without tearing down people's self image. There's beautiful qualities in everyone, even if they're not walking in NYFW

@@manuelp7472 you're correct. It's the unfortunate truth of the modeling industry as it stands. Are people beautiful in their own way? Sure. Do we, as individuals, find certain people more or less attractive, sometimes outside the expectations? Yes, of course. But the harsh truth about modeling is that it's a very narrow market that struggles to accept people with atypical features. This guy has the tact and charisma to be honest without being cruel, which is a rare talent.

I think it‘s also because he never says someone isn‘t good looking. He‘s focusing completely on „marketability“ which makes it a lot less personal to the people hearing they wouldn‘t find work in the industry. And as he says, his personal opinion is very different from his job, and he refrains from sharing personal opinions. Just very professional, which means the people he talks to will also be more professional.

I think what helps is he explains the difference between marketability as a model (how easy it would be to find gigs and such) vs. being attractive. The shorter black man, assuming that's his pronouns, has low marketability because of his height not being typical for what's in the model industry.

@I like Oranges I didn‘t talk about him? I think he did a great job, he gave CRITICISM which is a form of *honesty* To be BRUTALLY honest (key word: BRUTALLY) is usually just a code word for people who use that term to be fucking assholes to other people. Usually people who label themself as „brutally honest“ say stuff like „LMAO WHY DO YOU LOOK LIKE THE GIRL OF THE RING IN THAT DRESS“ - „YOU LOOK LIKE SHIT TODAY“ - „WHO GAVE YOU THOSE PANTS? GRANDMA??“ All of these can be interpreted as jokes if they are said BETWEEN FRIENDS but in my experience, both irl, from other people and from stories on the internet is that brutally honest people might say those things to anyone, even people they barely know or have just met, not just friends. Hope that cleared it up. Edit: of course not everyone who says they‘re brutally honest are like that. Some just give genuine criticism which is „xy looks good, but it‘d look netter that way“ or „xy doesn‘t fit you, try zy“. But I‘m not gonna talk about a small percentage in a huge majority.

@@belaizy4225 Thanks. I’ve always found people’s perceptions of age to be so interesting. I always think people will be able to gauge my age just my looking at me, but I get such a wide range...and it’s also really cool to see what race they are and their guess. I was born and raised in Honolulu, so we don’t see race quite like our compatriots ‘cause you really can’t tell what people are here...24.2% of us are mixed race, compared to 2.8% in America, 4.0% in California, and only Oklahoma 6.5% and Alaska 8.2% are over 5%. Case in point, my friend has blond hair, blue eyes...and she’s 1/4 Native Hawaiian and can speak Hawaiian fluently. Hehe. Anything, thank you again for your opinion. I hope u and ur ohana are staying safe and healthy during this pandemic. Love and aloha from Honolulu! 😁🤙🏽❤️🌈☀️ (just symbols of Hawai’i)

As a personality typology nerd, this was super refreshing to see. The scout to me seems like a very healthy ENTJ. He is unafraid to tell the truth and his thoughts directly but says it with such grace and frames it in a way that everyone can walk out with at least one thing to be confident about themselves in and IF they wanted to get into the fashion industry, at least one thing to work on as well. Well done and super informative video! :)
