    What you said really hit home. My mama told me when teaching me to make gravy, you better keep those hands twisting child! Made me chuckle and smile when you said the same thing about keeping your hands and elbows moving. Thanks for the memories! My mother passed 4 years ago and I still make gravy the way she taught me.

    Look into making a rue(flour and butter) and make that first, put it on the side and add it before the milk. His way is never going to taste as good and will take much longer to thicken up. Not saying his would be bad, just less good, more likely to get flour chunks, takes longer to cook down that much milk.

  • @charlesbrown4483

    @charlesbrown4483

    @@rankyra The roux has nothing to do with the milk or cream lol. He technically did make a roux in this video, just not enough of it. But if you’re making so much roux that you’re using it as the “gravy” in biscuits and gravy then you’re not eating biscuits and gravy, idk what that is.

    I know I’m a little late to your comment, but in this video he doesn’t get much grease out of his sausage to make into a roux. You really want to render the sausage down to get a lot of grease for the roux, but if your sausage is fairly lean you can always use bacon to get plenty of grease then take the bacon out. Other than that this video is a great representation of the dish, which is surprising because this dude is from CA but biscuits and gravy is usually just a south east thing. Down here we just eating it the first day we’re off the tit🤣

    It was for the poor down south in the USA but became a deliciousy throughout the years, that’s why most Americans are obese cause of the inflation and everything becoming so expensive or government messing with our organic foods lacing chemicals in them. If you want to go all the way homemade, here's a delicious buttermilk biscuit recipe. 3 cups self rising flour 1 stick of frozen butter (grated) 1 cup ice cold buttermilk Mix it all up until well combined Remove from bowl to a floured work surface Use the press and fold method 9 - 10 times Use a rolling pin to flatten dough to 1/2 inch thick. Use a coffee mug (floured) to cut biscuits Place biscuits on greased cookie sheet Bake at 350° for 10 minutes There you have it.

    I made @Martha Stewart buttermilk biscuits here on KZread (can't make the sausage gravy without HOMEMADE BISCUITS!) I used Farmer John sausage links and mashed them with a potato masher. This gravy is now my go to. It was so easy! I grew up on b&g, my dad's specialty, and THIS GRAVY does the trick! I used rosemary salt from @thatdudecancook (also here on KZread) in the gravy which contains kosher salt Thanks for this video🎉🎉🎉

    I've made this recipe exactly as AB shows here, and ultimately I ended up with altered version which definitely kicks it up a couple notches. I use real mild sausage instead of the ground pork (jimmy dean or wamplers), you can soak up the little bit of fat if you'd like with a paper towel but there isn't hardly any fat left after it's ground down and cooked. You gotta have the sage and other spices that already are in the sausage, and I cut the added spices back to 1 teaspoon of ground black pepper and 1 teaspoon of cajun seasoing. It's the bomb diggity no doubt, best sausage gravy I've ever had.
