Corrupt Police? New Apartment. Good-bye Van! - Van Life back in Argentina

This day started off rough and just got worse. We have never been harassed by the Argentina Police like this. This is already a stressful time as we prepare to ship the van to Europe. And with only a short time left we really can't afford this!
Cheers

If it happened in a province called "Entre Ríos", then this is not surprising at all for me. I'm Brazilian and used to travel a lot in Argentina by car. I visited 11 provinces and had problems with the road police in only one of them: Entre Ríos. It was always the same story: they invented some problem with the car, or some (supposedly) missing item, and then asked for cash in order to liberate you. Shame on them!

Speaking of stikkers. You will definitely need «Angles Morts» stikkers before entering France. All vehicles above 3,5 tonns must have them. European registered vehicles longer than 6 meters also must have orange lights and reflectors on the sights. I don’t know if out of continent vehicles also need them.

I love how you told Vanna "we don't eat birds" 😂 I tell my pup the same thing whenever he's barking at the birds and/or squirrels. I hope the rest of your stay in Argentina goes smoothly and you're able to find a good place to fix the windshield. Good luck with all your last minute errands, and we'll see you on Wednesday. When he pulled out late at night passed a closed Wally’s station policeman was hidden in there he followed us to outside of town & pulled us over told my husband he was speeding in a school zone 11 miles over the speed limit. 9:00pm. We know he was not speeding but he said he had us on radar. We did not argue took the ticket where polite. He knows we were not speeding because we just pulled out of Casey’s next door to closed Wally’s. It was 10/31/2023 . It is bad economy small town they need the revenue quota for the month. No point in arguing. They always have upper hand. Long story short $202.00 ticket. In order to get class & court supervision so it does not go on record and cause your car insurance to go up. That was some scary stuff with those police stops. Great abnb! That porch is so wonderful for the kitties. I am assuming you got the windshield fixed. I missed it or it went so smoothly you didn’t need to share it. Lol Exciting times. Not sure how far ahead you are but guessing the van has shipped. See you on Wednesday. Looking forward to it as always. 😊❤

The first time I went to Argentina, I went by bus. It was ridiculous how the police approached us. Since Paso De Los Libres till almost Buenos Aires, we had to pay each time they stopped us. One policeman even asked for a Coke. As neighbors, we know that Argentina’s situation has been in a downfall since the early 2000s, but this police situation is ridiculous.

I have enjoyed your travels in Central and South America immensely. I lived in Panama for four years and to see it through your videos brought me great joy! I never had any desire to see South America but now after watching your videos I am amazed at what a huge and beautiful continent it is. I hope your trip to Europe is an easy one. You can be sure I will be watching your videos just as faithfully as I have been. I live in Florida now and my travel partner has passed away. I will be hitchhiking with you in Europe. Best wishes always.

HI! Congratulations on getting this far in your journey. I have a suggestion for the kitties and their new lodging - put some of your comfortable clothes in there - preferably unwashed, smelling of you both. Is Vanna a daddy's girl? Put a dirty, soft undershirt, T shirt, socks...you get the idea. Switch it out over the next 6 weeks so it won't get too rank. They will be comforted by your smell in your soft clothes. I'm loving Argentina. I was there briefly in the 70s. I'm sorry you had to miss Uruguay - but maybe a day trip over to Montevideo? Have fun!!!

This is why I wouldn't be able to handle travel out of the country anymore; that's just too much stress & anxiety. I'd like to go back to our neighbor Canada someday though. That little outside laundry room is a good idea, protected from the elements, yet able to air dry out there too with the sun.
