We are not worried about it. Most people don’t want to dig trenches and so this type of intensive labor. They would rather let a professional company handle it💪

Thanks for the fundamentals. I was going to use french drain. But guess not.. I have a short drain 6 ft. I am buring it under a small sidewalk.

It's a shame that you can't get the FDM pipe locally. The shipping expense on it, in my case as an example, would exceed the price of my entire project. I may simply go for PVC, but I am hoping to find a compromise since the corrugated material is ideal if it doesn't get crushed in the process without all the joints.

Thanks for the video. For sump and downspout drainage. What is your recommendation on driveways w the corrugated pipe? Will cars crush it or best to go w even a thin walled PVC pipe, or will that crush too. Please advise. Thanks.

Hello, I'm grateful for educating me on the different pipes out there. I'm going to install a system for ground air transfer into my home. It's about 100' both ways, 6'-8' in the ground and what type of pipe would you recommend? It will be a loop system that will heat and cool my home. I live in Nevada about 25 miles east of Reno. It gets hot 🔥🔥🔥 in summer and cold in the winter. Frost level is 2' deep. Can you recommend a pipe for the application? Thanks, Ben

Seems like a catch-22 when installing any pipe with holes into a trench: If you put gravel under the pipe, you’ll create the air gap needed to prevent roots but water will pool in that gap and attract roots. Conversely, if you lay the pipe directly on the soil, there will be no air gap to prevent roots, allowing them to freely grow into the pipes. What’s the solution?

Any water beneath the pipe in the rock should be able to leach into the soil beneath. I think he meant that that would not work with the packing peanuts not due to the space they create as much as the absorbent quality of them or the material holding them in may prevent the water from leaching properly into the soil.

I've been trying to figure this one out as well. Most people seem to recommend leaving an inch or so of rocks under the pipe to keep the slits in the pipe open, but others say it's not necessary. My impression in that in this video (at minute 20:15) he doesn't recommend leaving a space under the pipe. He says, "For best results, dig the trench, line it with a good geotextile, PUT THE PIPE AT THE BOTTOM, fill it with stone, stitch it up."

Would this corrugated pipe be good to bury under a new cement slab? Theres no trees or shrubs anywhere near where i'll be putting it. In South Louisiana.

I wish I could buy the good FDM pipe but the shipping costs way more than pipe actual pipe making cost prohibitive. Do you sell and ship to east coast south FL?

Call Baughman manufacture directly and ask to distributors in the local area. I called FDM today and was told nothing around then called baughman directly and found a little place an hour from me that carriers the good 8 slot

If I wanted to install a French drain in a rock driveway what pipe would you recommend? FDM pipe is out of the question with the freight prices. I'm afraid this HD pipe will crush with vehicles driving over it.

I would definitely stay away from a box store corrugated pipe if you’re running it under a driveway. Check a water works store or plumbing supply store and see if they carry a thicker single walled corrugated pipe.

ADS install instructions specify a 2% slope, or 2 ft per 100ft or roughly 1/4" per foot. Smooth wall rigid pipes like SDR35/Sched 40 can get away with less slope - about 1%.
