"Corridors of Time" (Chrono Trigger) LIVE Jazz Cover // J-MUSIC Pocket Band
Музыка
Our live cover of "Corridors of Time" from Chrono Trigger, originally composed by Yasunori Mitsuda. This arrangement by Patrick Bartley.
As stated in a previous video, this game is truly and unquestionably one of the most beautiful RPGs of all time, and its soundtrack is unparalleled, without a doubt. It was this song, in fact, that put that notion over the top for me (Pat) when I first played through the game. In a similar effect that "Eruyt Village" from Final Fantasy XII had on me, this song (which first plays when you meet Melchior, and then when you reach Antiquity, originally known as the Dark Ages) cemented in the thought that I absolutely needed to explore this OST. It's taken a few years to finally get to this song (and it is by no means the definitive version - we acknowledge the mistakes), but it was worth the wait for us. Mat takes a beautiful bass solo here, and I was extremely happy to take this opportunity to solo over a harmonic soundscape that truly resonates with my inner being. It is one of my favorite solos that I've taken, if I had to pick, as it allows me to explore some of the melodic ideas that I hear in my head every day. We hope you enjoy our rendition of this truly timeless classic!

Not ashamed to say that Pat's solo when I went to see this got me teary eyed. It was honestly beautiful and this song was my favorite in the set

it rules when a person in a jazz band isn't playing, just listening, and visibly enjoying whoever's layin down a solo as much as I am
sax solo is COMPLETELY BONKERS
Ok, this is my favorite out of all your recent session uploads. Everything about this is incredible. The Sax+Clarinet unison, Pat's solo, Mat rocking out on bass, Dom's drumming, Jake's vibes (this song basically REQUIRES vibes), Olin's guitar tone fits perfectly, etc.

Thank you so much... I have to say this helps so much. I'm having so many memories of my wife who passed away and this is how I imagined it thinking of her from the music... She may not be here with me. But, she's in the corridors of time waiting for me... It has been since this past May of 2019. Now it is Jan 2020. Time stood still since then... I miss her so much. But, I can imagine she is walking along the corridors of time and amazed by memories from each era... I love and miss you my loving wife... Thank you for playing this amazing piece. :')

I'm so sorry if I'm bringing back any unpleasant feelings from giving you a notification on this comment so late, but I just wanted to say that my heart personally goes out to you for your loss, and I am beyond touched and grateful that we get to deliver this peace to you through our music. Beyond this, I'm not sure how much I can say, but I wanted to let you know that we see you. I hope you're doing well right now, especially during these tough times. I'm sorry I never got to this comment sooner. J-MUSIC is always here with you! -Pat
ソロパートがしっかりと原曲の雰囲気を大事にしながらオリジナリティも発揮してるのが最高
That bass tho! Holding it down man! Nice cover y'all. Love this song
Dom's playing here especially during Pat's solo has had an insane grip on me for years now
2:26 Making Chrono Trigger sexy with that sax solo, my dude. Excellent rendition of one of gaming's greatest tracks.

I love how Pat slides into the notes. Something about the sax sliding up to hit the harmony with the clarinet increases the payoff so much
I HAVE WAITED FOR THIS VERY DAY, I LOVE YOU PATTTTT
I love this original music and this arrangement so much. I played this game as a child, but I can remember clearly the scene this music was played. I'm repeatedly hearing this video's music while working from home. Thank you Pat very much for your nice music from japan.
This is amazing. Corridors of time has always been my favorite, in this timeless classic. I still remember the Kingdom of Zeal, and it's tragic end. Respect to all of you, and especially the bro on saxophone. Love that instrument. You all did great.

I still remember my first impression on getting to zeal the first time. When you take the sky bridge up from the winter wasteland below. Seeing the waterfalls, free falling from the sky islands...incredible

@Lavos To bring it into the modern era like how they did with Trials of Mana

Trials of Mana is a really good, faithful remake of SD3. It manages to feel the way the original did, but brings in some great new stuff and the jump to 3D is perfect. Very much unlike the Secret of Mana 3D remake, which had all the flaws and weird bits from the original untouched and still in place. All they really added were the conversations the characters have while at an Inn. If they could remake Chrono Trigger in the same way they did Trials of Mana, with all the heart that was felt in the SNES game, then I think we would have a real winner.
I hit the like button 4 seconds in... knew it was going to great. Did not dissappoint. 👏👏👏👏
"Waah, I'm sorry bass clarinets can't be in jazz band" "WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT BASS CLARINETS NOW MR E!" Sorry, great video guys, didn't think I'd hear a solo I liked better than your solo for Butterfly Kiss, but again, you proved me wrong.
I LIVE FOR THIS SHIT RIGHT HERE. OMG YESSSSSSSS This was so worth the wait.
The guy on bass was nuts! Great cover all around!
Man that was a very lyrical story telling solo. Very refreshing a lot of soloist (including my self lol ) try playing 100 notes with a lot of ideas that don't connect or try to appear "flashy" instead of serving the song and listener. Man great rendition!!!
this version of this song is one of my favourite songs of all time. i listen to it on a regular basis since 4 years. very well done, boys °
"While it was true I had already indeed traveled through time itself, even that found me unprepared for what we dicovered almost 13 millenia prior, an ominous period in history of which little was known, and was thus widely thought to be a harsh era of struggle for humanity's meager survival. I learned this to be a deliberate half-truth, as there are no words for the awe which overcame me after first soaring into the sky, lifted on nothing but a ray of light, only to find myself taking my first steps onto that doomed dominion, the flying feifdom of magic known as the Kingdom of Zeal." - From the accounts of Ser Glenn of Guardia, Hopping Hero of The Mystic War

Everything came together so well in this: the solos, the drumming, the groove, the freaking bass clarinet! All of it! And Pat's solo was beautifully intense. Way to go, y'all.
thanks for that awesome solo General Sax!
I love the drummer's facial expressions. He's so into it

This is one of my favorites from the game. I'm so happy to be playing it for the first time while y'all are uploading this series. Feel like it's fate (Well that and the fact that I may have been motivated to play the game when the first Chrono Trigger song came up lol)

This cover is just like the original song itself, timeless. Brought back a lot of good memories from younger days when I heard this rendition. Thanks for sharing.
Ya'll are just simply fantastic. I can't state that enough. I've watched a few of your video's before and man did I vibe. This song here is just... That solo... good god. Subbed as hard as I could.
I saw visions of otherworldly travels through the corridors of time, fighting monsters and wars, meeting people and friends along the way, all for a simpler greater good. Thanks!
Awesome! Loved this remake on a classic - each guy could put his own flavour on it! Beaut.

Good effort guys! Me and a few friends really loved it!
Amazing cover so chill 😎
This cover perfectly captures the ethereal nature of the original melody.
I love listening to this, and have done so many times since you first released the video; it sounds SO bittersweet, like feeling nostalgia and acknowledging at the same time that we can't go back and experience it again for the first time; reliving the wonder but having to do so from a distance. This is SO beautiful, and it does the original such justice that I don't know how to put it into words. I must have commented originally on the Patreon post because I was POSITIVE I'd said something about how amazing it is, but I don't see myself below, so... Just know it still hits just as hard- and it's just as gorgeous- a year later.
