"Marble Zone" (Sonic The Hedgehog) LIVE Jazz Cover // J-MUSIC Pocket Band

Музыка

Our live cover of "Marble Zone" from Sonic The Hedgehog (Genesis/Mega Drive), originally composed by Masato Nakamura. This arrangement by Patrick Bartley.
Yes! We happy to finally upload this one here for you all! Now, we've been playing this tune for a while now (it's also available for free on our 1st demo), actually, so at this point it's like a standard to us. This has been played in so many ways over the past 4+ years that it's hard to know what the actual definitive version is. But fun fact, this tune has actually been played in multiple countries now, as Pat has taken this arrangement overseas to play in many different situations (including at two different high security UN private events - yes, we can officially say that people like Nikki Haley and Henry Kissinger have listened to at least 30 minutes of video game music and didn't know it. We'd say that's a big resume booster). Okay, we know nothing has been said about the actual song yet, but that was an important anecdote! This song is special because after running through 3 acts of Green Hill Zone at Sanic speed, you're now immediately forced to give pause and delve into the lava-filled ruins of the Marble Zone... for better or for worse, you decide. Either way, we're now given this beautiful Latin-influenced melody over a simple yet popping 4-on-the-floor groove between the bass and drums, and it makes for the perfect mood changer in this new space. Every solo is a delight here, with Pat starting right off the bat with an engaging and interactive sax solo, reflective guitar sounds by Olin, and bringing the house down to the low end is Wallace on bass.
... Got any other special dignitaries that'd you'd like us to expose video game music to?

From the trumpet's opening notes, I thought they were going to play 'Music to Watch Girls By'! But instead of swinging 60s we got some really cool jazz.
