"Delightful Spekkio" (Chrono Trigger) LIVE Jazz Cover // J-MUSIC Pocket Band

Музыка

Our live cover of "Delightful Spekkio" from Chrono Trigger, originally composed by Yasunori Mitsuda. This arrangement by Patrick Bartley.
Ok, honestly, this has to be the wackiest part of Chrono Trigger, and one of the most unique moments in RPG history, for sure. Don't you just hate it when you travel ALL the way to the End of Time, wigged out of your utter brains, and you meet this fluffy mankey-looking creature that tells you the only way you'll get magic powers is if you run laps around a room 3 times (oh and don't run the wrong way)? Well, the saving grace of this weird encounter is the fun, bouncy, friendly soundtrack, that almost reminds us of something Cannonball Adderley would play - and that's where we took it! Everybody gets a piece in this one, and Jasper busts out the bass clarinet once again to make the bass line even phatter! This track is sure to put a smile on your face and get you up to dance (at least it did that to us and those in the room)! Which characters did you first take with you to get powered up by Spekkio?
*Fun fact: I (Pat) once heard Yusef quote a melody that sounded like this on the song "Work Song" from a live record "Nippon Soul" by Cannonball Adderley, and I almost jumped out of my seat because I thought Yasunori-san heard that specific solo and made a melody out of it. I was SOOO shocked! And then I realized that it was a song I didn't know, which share's the same first 4 notes and rhythm as this track - "Let's Fall In Love", an old pop song turned jazz standard back in the first half of the 20th century... I felt dumb but amused. Lol. Thought I'd share that.

Never noticed the song lends itself well to a New Orleans second line interpretation before.

This is great! I love your description of this otherworldly scene for people who havnt played the game, its so out if left field, and in a great way! Speaking of seeing him dance in the middle of the room, in his white fur (feathers?). I found this video that is equally as great cover, for different reasons. kzread.info/dash/bejne/nWegysigYsi_aJs.html
