Just moved here (Corpus Christi) from Washington State, never caught a saltwater fish in my life. Been a die-hard bass fisherman forever. Just got here a couple days ago, and just got a nice cheap saltwater spinning rod combo today. Hoping to pop my saltwater cherry soon! Looks like a great time!

Shame we cant catch sheepers out in the open cause theyre a good strong fighter. Use some light tackle the fight would be fun. But you gotta put the pressure on quick to get them out of the rocks.

used too! I feel bad when it breaks off and gets on the rocks. I’ve seen what line does to turtles and other fish. I’ve speared the jetty and there’s dead turtles floating with fishing line from the rocks. You can’t see them from the jetty only under water on the bottom.

Thanks for the fishing update and appreciate your usage of computer drawings to explain the channel shelves. I think you should make a separate video showing how to make a couple drop rig variations and also how to bait with a little piece of shrimp and/or 1/2 fishbite strip. Size 1 hook is good if targeting more Mangrove Snapper. You're right you will catch more Piggy (not Pygmy) Fish and Pinfish. Subscribed...and looking forward to more Packery channel videos.

Great video man! One thing though, I used to catch the sheepsheads at the jetties as well, but this time of the year, I catch them from the surf and on circle hooks as well. I miss the Packery jetties though. Great stuff! Keep them coming! #2020.12.15.2048

What test line did you use?

Do you hook the shrimp under the horn or in the tail? Definitely looking forward to more sheepshead videos they are my favorite.

I really enjoyed the video and the information you provided. Do you have to go to the end of the jetty to catch Sheepshead or can you pretty much get them anywhere on the jetty.

You can get them anywhere, But the end has more on average. Once you start to get into deep winter they will be littered on the jetty. When March hits they will breed so you can get a limit in 10 minutes if you fínese correctly. Hope your family has an amazing holiday!

Thanks for sharing! One question that always bugs me a lot. How to stop those pin fish from stealing my live shrimps? I always find my live baits torn down by those fish before I can hook anything.

You can only limit it by hook size and having less slack in your line. if you feel there bite then recast somewhere else.

You can honestly fish in any channel around corpus. Just use google maps and get live shrimp. you can try Packery channel its great for all types of levels of fisherman! Also get your bait at fisherman’s bait and seafood they have the cleanest water for sure.
