Coronavirus outbreak in Poland [Kult America]

Keeping a major social distance, I spent a few hours on Sunday the 15th to gather shots from the nations capital under these extremely unusual circumstances. Stay safe everyone!

    It's great if your not depending on hostels for a place to stay. I have been for the last 2+ months, and I'm quickly running out of places to stay. The place I'm at now, lost 30,000zł. last month, and rather than repeat that loss any longer, they are closing next weekend... and not temporarily until quarantine is lifted; they're closing permanently. =(

    Hm... I think Poles dealt quite good and fast with the issue of staying at home. I think the main reason is because we raised through the WWII and comunism - but West - not.

    It can be truth. We are capitalist society but not in minds. I mean we are not so much into gain and money like west. It can be observed in many ways not only in that kind of drastic situations like epidemy. In daily life we allow to more people friendly behaviour witch can lower incom for busines but people dont care.

    The strictness of the reaction is correlated with the incompetence of the state. Our healthcare system will snap like a matchstick the moment we get into the thousands of hospitalized and the government knows that it stands no chance at mass testing with case tracking (which is the Korean and German strategy). The one thing it can do right is roll out restrictions, so it does. And now its trying to hold an election in the middle of the epidemic, since they all know that postponing it to fall, when mass lay-offs kick in, will make them lose. It might seems like the Polish government is on top of their game here, but the truth is that locking down half of the economy is the easy part. The real question is what comes next and I assure you that there is no plan. The plan for the ruling party is to stay in power, peoples jobs and livelihoods are irrelevant to that. Its not like they are elected by working professionals and entrepreneurs in the first place.

  • @ten_tego_teges

    @ten_tego_teges

    4 жыл бұрын

    @Alex No its not, Germany has 100k detected cases and under 1k dead, meaning they detect EVERYBODY and opposed to just scanning people that have symptoms. Besides, the German healthcare system is ages ahead of the Polish one, so they are able to handle the situation. Germany is also at the forefront of policies designed to shield the economy from the disruption, sth the Polish government is willfully overlooking as its busy fighting the opposition over elections. As I said, locking the borders and telling people to stay at home is easy. Its all the rest that's the problem: testing capability, case tracking, shielding the labour market and helping small businesses. I'm actually glad they reacted fast, but I now see that there is no plan on how to actually end this.

  • @ten_tego_teges

    @ten_tego_teges

    4 жыл бұрын

    @Alex I told you, I'm glad they imposed the lockdown early, that's why we're at 4k. I also said I am reasonably sure Germany has the capability to handle the cases they have. The number they present is only high on paper, because they do far more tests. Germany detects all the teens and 20 year-olds that show no symptoms, but they won't end up in hospital. They only quarantine them and prevent them from spreading it further. Poland is only testing people with suspicion of contamination meaning you have to have been in contact with an infected OR be exposed to people and exhibit flu symptoms. And yet, there are countless cases of medical workers not getting tested often enough despite constantly working with COVID patients. Recently they shut down an entire hospital, cause it was the doctors and nurses that were spreading COVID among patients. Bringing up Nazi Germany in this context is idiotic, I'm sorry to say that. What happened 70 years ago is irrelevant to the current situation. Its not about blame, its about comparing how countries are handling this crisis and Poland has no plan beyond the lockdown.

    its not just Poland or Europe for fact of the matter but people here state side are acting like idiots and buying everything that they can get there hands on. I work at a grocery store chain that is based out of Rochester New York, we're having problems where for this time of year where would have two or three stores on one trailer we're pushing all straight runs with turns run ( a turn run is where the driver would hook up to one trailer run that store get unloaded or do a drop hook(drop that trailer and pick up another either empty or recycling) come back to the warehouse) the. pick up the second leg of there trip). And our salvage (recycling) count is off the wall for this time of year and we're having a hard time keeping up with it all

    In the last few years Poland was making a HUGE economical gains, bursting itself to the first league...and now this... But on the bright side, Poles are common sense and disciplined people, a lot of them still remember the REAL hardships of communism, can survive on very little and can improvise a lot if needed, something the used to luxury and plenty Westerners can not. So far, the much hated by the western liberals and media polish government is doing a decent job, reacting in calm and honest matter, and the spread of the bug is not as dramatic as it is in the West. Stay Strong Poland, see you on the other side!

    Looks like they are doing it right. Fun fact,, my parents and I were about to retire in Poland in April from Michigan and everything is a bit out of whack as you can imagine. Got the moving company and sold the house, fortunately we still have it till the end of May. Right now I'm staying away from the outside, dont want to spread it to others more susceptible if I got it. It's still going to get worse likely here before it get's better, there seems to be to many cases that go without symptoms and then suddenly those with conditions get it. O yea and we were going to take a ship from New York to Southampton and Hamburg, might as well visit Wuhan with that list.

    Hello Kult America, I have been watching your videos for some time now, interesting points of view. I am an American living in the USA, but I have considered moving to another country, mostly just for the experience and the shock that comes with being outside of your comfort zone. My feeling is that one of the major motivations behind living in America, is the pursuit of the American dream, I am all for free market capitalism, but I think having a "dream" to aspire to is important as well. As cost of living goes up and the chances of "becoming one of the members of the middle class" becomes more and more unlikely, It gives me even more motivation to consider becoming an expat. Then the corona epidemic hits, and I and millions of other Americans lose their jobs. I have been reading about how happier Americans are, when they move over to Europe, universal health care, more vacation time, a better work life balance, the attitude that life is for living not living in fear that your insurance may not cover you in an emergency, despite rising insurance prices. What are your thoughts on becoming an American expat, be it in Poland or Europe at large? Do you think the trend will increase?

The interesting part is that my father was born in a village 60 miles south of Lwow, Siwka Wojnilowska, in 1920. How did my grandfather find his way to this village and marry his wife there in 1911? Since this was Galicia, I presume he was sent there by the Austrian government. Any good history books on the period? Though I was born in Chicago in 1951, I think I just need a good facilitator to submit my papers for Polish citizenship by descent?

    Thx for the video I put out my book, THE FIRST HORSE PEOPLE, it's the complete history of our ancient tribe the Sarmatian knights and the Amazon women. From the time we first aquired the horses and what we did with them to the time we aquired Poland the breadbasket of Europe.
