Cooking a Steak over my Aluminum Foundry (with Guinness Mushroom Sauce)
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
50k Ribeye Steak with Guinness and Mushroom Sauce
Cooked over a foundry (optional)
To celebrate reaching 50K subscribers, I thought I'd make a steak over my foundry. Of course I also cast an aluminum commemorative plaque at the same time! If you want to see all of the process for the plaque (CNC pattern making, casting, finishing) you can go here!

--
1 lb Ribeye Steak
14.9 oz Can of Guinness
16 oz of Whole White Mushrooms, Sliced
1 Medium Yellow Onion, Chopped
2 Large Cloves of Garlic, Minced
8 Tbsp of Unsalted Butter
1 Tbsp of Dark Brown Sugar
1 Tbsp of Balsamic Vinegar
Olive Oil
Montreal Steak Seasoning
Salt and Pepper
For the Steak
Remove steak from the refrigerator and marinate in low sodium soy sauce for at least an hour until steak reaches room temperature. Pat steak dry with a paper towel and apply Montreal steak seasoning to all sides.
Add just enough olive oil to coat a medium cast iron skillet. Apply pan to heat. When oil begins to smoke, place steak in pan for ~3 minutes. Then flip the steak and leave for ~3 minutes. Add 4 tbsp of unsalted butter to the pan and spoon over the steak until nicely browned. Remove steak from heat and allow to rest while you make the sauce.
For the Sauce
In a medium pan, melt 4 tbsp of butter. Add the chopped onion and cook until transparent. Stir the minced garlic into the onions and then add the mushrooms. Continue cooking the mushrooms until they are soft and begin to brown. Add the can of Guinness, dark brown sugar and balsamic vinegar and reduce by half. Salt and pepper to taste.
Drizzle Guinness, mushroom sauce over the steak and serve. Sauce is enough for 1 to 3 steaks depending on how much you like mushrooms. :)
BTW- Don't worry, this isn't turning into a food channel. :)
It seems like only a year ago I made the 5K plaque.... Because it was almost exactly one year! Thank you to everyone for an incredible year and I am looking forward to more projects in the future!

I have seen dozens of casting videos on youtube..never really impressed me. This guy takes pride in his work, and it shows. Plus the man knows how to make a steak, subscribed.

+Michael K (tsalaroth) Funny thing is is that this is a better way to cook a steak than in my house! I don't have a very efficient exhaust hood over my stove and the BBQ doesn't get hot enough. 'Aluminum melt optional'
Dammit now I want a steak. Love your vids man

+ViperishTiger Yeah that is why it is hard to say how many mushrooms per steak. I could sit down and just eat the buttery, onion and Guinness mushrooms. This was enough for two steaks.
Great video :-) now I´m hungry hahaha
I'm hungry now, you sir know how to cook!
that plaque is amazing! will there be a preparation vid like with the others?

+sebianoti Yes, I wanted this video to focus on the steak. I need finish compiling the other part that shows the pattern making, molding and finishing in more detail. Trying to keep them both simple but related!
Multitasking.
BOSS!!!
congratulations on 50k sub's loved the how to :) just need smellavision now
Brian...? You can build using every material, sew, cook... You make Magyver look like a 10 year old 2nd place winner at a science fair... lol... Love your videos!!!

+Theles Silveira Yeah I try to avoid this video too unless I am prepared to drive to the store and get fixin's
Looks delicious! Try throwing in the minced garlic much later in the process. Since it's minced, it browns/burns very quickly, losing the best parts of it's flavour.
I love your cast, have you considered a red play button. I thinks it will look great with one more color. But you are very inspired to look at. I want a shop so I can do the things you had done 😉
Nice )
Man Points 🍺
so hungry now
your killing me!
You’re making me hungry damn it! *laughs*
Nice job! I'm no fan of shrooms myself, but I can always appreciate a good cook and well prepared meal despite my personal tastes. On another note, do you know of any cheaper, simpler oil burners for foundries? I love your design, but as cash is tight for teenagers like myself and so are pieces of welding equipment. Thanks for the video none-the-less.
So hungry now.... >_> Must build a foundry to cook on..
You have the responsibility to make one for me
congrats dude, cooking the steak on the foundry amazing, pouring liquid and maybe spilling some into the foundry crazy, but your call. I guess best to go out in a bang

+Construct Icon Yeah, it is funny that a 'well done' steak should just be tossed in the garbage or fed to the dog from my perspective! My old boss wouldn't be happy if it didn't start to burn and turn black on the outside! He must have died from food poisoning in a previous life is my only guess...
Mmm...
did you buy or make that crucible holder?

I know this video is a year old, but if you haven't heard of them, give Milk Stout Nitro by Left Hand Brewing a try. Blows Guinness out of the water.
I'm kind of hurt you didn't make the sauce using the leftover butter from preparing the steak, it's a missed opportunity there IMO. Either way, it looks amazing. Sooo hungry right now.

+Maximo Dominguez Hey Maximo, the Montreal Steak Seasoning has some elements in it that tend to have a slight bitter flavor if burned. I had to do my aluminum pour in between so it was better to simply start over fresh. Thanks for the comment!
What did I just watch?
The main thing is not to mix up and not to pour the flux into the pan.
I see you read the cook book, or are just a good cook
so basically you ate the stake cold?
Did you do one for 100K? 150K?
