As a 58 year old woman who has lived with the trauma of being molested and raped starting at the age of 9 UNTIL I was 14, by 2 male family members who were SUPPOSED to love and protect me, I KNOW ALL TOO WELL what this child is going through AND WILL continue to go through for the remainder of her life, and yes therapy will DEFINITELY help, HOWEVER many of us who’ve endured this type of trauma go through life questioning ourselves, I know for myself, I STILL blame myself, perhaps it was because my mother chose to not believe me when I told her what happened to me OR chose to ignore what was happening because 1 of them were helping her financially, I was ONLY believed by other family members AFTER he was caught with another 14 year old girl, UNFORTUNATELY the family chose to leave authorities out of it and keep it a family secret, so perhaps that is ALSO WHY I still feel the way I do. LUCKILY for me, I didn’t have to deal with a pregnancy, where this child does and HOPEFULLY the baby doesn’t end up being a constant reminder of the horrors she endured by this EVIL SOB. I am happy to see that PHYSICAL castration is now being used, HOWEVER I think that ANY person who violates another person ESPECIALLY a child SHOULD receive BOTH physical AND chemical treatments, and should NEVER see the outside world again.

I’m sorry, the comments like these are why the founding fathers wanted us to be a representative democratic-republic, and not just have everybody vote on every topic. Not that they represent us always great, but in theory they’re supposed to think about the situation long-term and other consequences. Just look at people who are found to be innocent after going to prison. So how many exonerated people will be walking around after their physical castration. Maybe you think it’s extremely rare, Because it happens much more than you think. And the only ones that are really ever exonerated are done because of DNA or some thing else miraculous. She gave birth prior to roe v wade being overturned. She went to police in July 2022 to report she had been assaulted and given birth and DNA was a match per the report I read. Roe v wade overturned in June 2022. So she as far as we know chose to not kill the innocent baby she carried.

Also, there are hormone pills you can take that allow it to work without balls. So, it's a completely useless procedure. I wish someone had said that to me when I was rape at 13 😢 unfortunately down to the cops my mom and other family members just shrug their shoulders and told me I'll get over it I was a teenager and teenagers have sex they didn't see me as a kid I'm 32 years old now he got away with it cuz he was a total stranger and it was just no way to connect them and they didn't feel like doing that job to research or find him . I immediately came forward I didn't wait that was probably a a mistake it was 4 days before my 14th😢 birthday in Nov just for Christmas same year my mom tells me when she got mad at me " that's why you been rape" so it warms my heart to see somebody actually see think and believe that a 14 year old kid is actually well a kid .I was truly I was a teenager but I had a mind of a innocent 10 year old not academically but streetwise and sexually. This not my case s and although the man who got away and never face justice . I feel a little bit of justice and the fact that they taking his defense seriously and giving him physical castration

I was rapped by my father from age 5 (as far as I can remember) till I was 18. The day of my 18th birthday,my boyfriend at the time,,,later on became my husband,,,,helped me pack up. He even paid for an apartment every month for me till we married the next year. If I had my way,my father would have been castrated! My husband was my “night and shining armor “, that was 50 years ago this August! If not for him ,I would not be alive today! I hope this is LAW in every state!

It's not going to happen. What they decided to leave out was that the law requires that the castration not be carried out until a week prior to his release from prison. I'm not sure how this would work if he were paroled, it might not happen no matter what until he's 104, and even then the law might be overturned. That's why the defendant agreed to it. You aren't watching justice, you are watching the DA's reelection strategy.

The fact that the victim wasn't allowed an abortion is an abomination.

It's likely that most men sentenced to chemical castration would not agree to making it a physical castration anyway, like this guy did. And the reason it's not common, and I'm just speculating here, is bc the majority of people who make the laws and determine appropriate sentences are men. And maybe they think it's too harsh a punishment or they believe offenders should be given a chance at rehabilitation, etc. But there are still some who are sentenced to chemical castration. It's just not as headline grabbing.

What if the rapist is a woman? Or child? Lots of women have been convicted of rape. Especially child rape. Or what if the rapist is a 12 year old just going through puberty? This is the DUMBEST thing I've ever seen. America gets dumber by the day.

I have never heard of castration (chemical or physical) being part of a court sentence in the states. Ive heard of chemical castration in other countries, I've just never heard of it happening here. However, that being said, I hope they use this more often. Its hard to get a sense of justice for locking a predator up just for them to be put in protective custody/ a segregated unit where they'll be with other similar criminals.
