Can I convert my one-way zipper on a jacket, to a two-way separating zipper, So I can leave the bottom of my jacket undone while the top half remains zipped? I keep watching zipper videos and I really think it should work.

But can you convert the other way? I have a few jackets that I would love to be able to convert to a two way separating zipper...

Ditto. No other way but to remove the whole zipper and sew on a new one.

Can you explain why I can't add another slider to the bottom of my jacket zipper and make a two way separating zipper to open from the bottom up as well??

If you still want to save a jacket/coat, u can replace the whole zipper. Undo the stitches on the zipper and stitch on new zippers - one-way, two-way or whatever u want.

I was -this- close to having exactly what I needed in my stash. Until I realized it was a bag zipper instead of a jacket zipper. Thanks for saving me the experimenting.

I have a 2 way separating zipper where the pin has become stuck at lower end of long jacket. Otherwise zipper works well, zips up, can be unzipped from the bottom. I'm pretty sure I was pulling at the wrong side initially as is different sided to other jackets I have. I can see a small misalignment a the bottom. Any advice appreciated, thanks.

how do you stop a two way separating zipper (bottom slider) from riding up and opening the zipper from the bottom?

I have a one way closed zip that I added another slider to, to make a 2 way closed. For a duffle bag. The new slider has trouble sliding backwards (closing). It works fine opening, but drags a little when it closes. Any suggestions?

I have a question. I have a fjallraven Yupik parka that has a double zip and it is a left handed zip due to being a European brand. If I wanted to change it to a right handed zip, could I just remove the top stops on both sides and then take the two pulls from off the left and put them on the right? Will that work? I have a zipper question! I have a zipper on my leather backpack. It's not a separating type. It closes a side pocket on my backpack (which I use daily as a purse). The zipper teeth are fine and robust. It's the TAPE that is disintegrating in a spot. It's developed a hole in the fabric tape and it's coming apart and getting larger and larger daily. It is very difficult to close the zipper now because the hole in the tape has compromised the perfection of the teeth aligning. I sure hope this makes sense. I was recently able to make a 2-way open zipper out of a tape zipper (no pins and boxes), by inserting the zipper head tail first into the closed end. It seems the only purpose for it is for a bodysuit, which allows the zipper to be opened from the bottom (for bathroom purposes) instead of having to take off the entire bodysuit altogether. If anyone find the need to make one of these I'll be happy to give some pointers.

Does anybody know if you can replace the pin box on a double head zipper? Mine lost a bit of material and now it does not lock anymore. *Edit* Nevermind one of their videos told me I can't fix it...

So, I assume if you remove the bottom head on a two separator zipper, you will lose all function? Will the top head even stay on the zipper?

Once you remove the bottom slider, the top slider will fall off the bottom of the zipper. The two way pin and box is designed to keep the bottom slider on.

Typically they were used for long coats so when you sat down you can open the bottom of the coat. Nowadays, while some function of apparel requires.a two way separating zipper, I've seen it more of a designers choice.

You mean to tell me rockets are off to the moon yet a two-way zipper cannot be converted to a one-way zipper in 2022? Positively Stone Age :)

Seems like the two way separating zipper could be converted to a single separating zipper with addition of a box adapter. Obviously a specialty part would be required. Two way separating zipper just suck and rarely ever work properly.

The 2 way separating zipper is the most useless thing to be invented in the name of fashion. You can zip up a thermally insulated down jacket with these zippers and they're just idiotic, undermining the thermal properties of the jacket just so you can look like a catwalk clown with scurvy, merely speed for the first 1" at the top. All the warmth escapes!? Who would have thought it!
