I practice this each day. Trying not to let things that ultimately don't matter get the better of me. Anything from work to games.

In cognitive behavioural therapy there is an interesting model where you learn that the only way to control your emotions (and the resulting behaviour) is by being mindful of your thoughts. A lot of the internal chatter that goes on all day is bullshit if you really pay attention. A lot of it is internalized voices of other people, fears, doubts, ideology or things you've come to believe that don't withstand critical analysis. But if you aren't mindful, you just go with it and that stream of bullshit carries you through life, decides how you feel and how you behave. I'd argue that one of the most direct ways to control your emotions is a daily practice of meditation (or some other form of mindfulnes).

I agree. We need strong male role models right now. The tide is turning slowly but it depends on the maturity of both men and women. There seem to be more and more younger women coming out that are over this 4th wave fem b.s and hopefully the men that have allowed themselves to become vegetable lasagna's will get their stagnant energy moving and stick up for themselves! Strong masculine energy is not toxic - it has the power to destroy what is toxic!

We would stand in formation, at attention, while our DI's would attempt to make us break. If you broke, you PT'd until the last guy lost. I was always in the last third who did, but there was one guy who was a total statue that would have us pushing until we almost DIED.

Judicious use of your anger is spot on. If you pull it out when you really mean it, it is FAR more effective. This, I find, is also true of the use of the "F-Bomb".....Somehow, it has become the universal adjective. In today's society, it has become akin to saying "like" or "ya know".... If it is saved for when you really need to make a point.....it then carries more power. IMHO

I have trouble showing emotions or having any positive ones.. through hardships, I conditioned myself to place them second; but i'm not surviving anymore. I've been told I can be either a positive or negative leader from a very young age, and my purpose is to be exemplary, an immovable pillar for my brothers to rely on. All of my relationships are founded on my efficiency, and I am happy to make myself appreciated through my actions more than my personality, but would there be a way for me to recover from a past that I built myself from? Something that I can do alone.. trustworthy people to hang with is fine and all, but they're just not around yet

Jocko has a way of acting like he's interested in Echo's thoughts but you can tell by his body language (ringing of the hands)- deep, yet "humble" JOCKO breaths as he's moving back and forth in his chair just waiting for Echo to shut up and move on. Dichotomy..

This dude is clueless. You’re actually teaching your kids to be self-conscious and overly aware of every tiny thing they do. They will try to self-correct more which just leads to anxiety and frustration. You don’t teach your kids by correcting, you teach them by being a shining fucking example and getting the fuck out of their way. Clueless, overeager parenting is fucking everywhere. These people think they are so clever too. They can’t bear the idea that the best parent isn’t the one that tries to assimilate them.

Yeah, don't teach your kids self control and self awareness. It's not like they will ever need those things. Oh wait. Those are two extremely important life skills.
