Control Point Tutorial - SITE COORDINATES VS PLAN COORDINATES (Total Station/Surveying)

It's important to know how to interpret control points given to you for your jobsite. This video should give you a basic understanding of what to look for, specifically site coordinates vs. plan coordinates.

Thank you, you explain things very well and simply. 1:07 Do you have a video that explains the SURFACE (GROUND) vs GRID coordinates ans scale / combined scale factors? This seems very complicated. I notice the SURFACE (GROUND) vs GRID coordinates are different by as much as 1000'??? Why? That is substantial. Elevations (orthometric based on geoid) are the same? Thanks!

Thanks For The Video! Could you please explain on Site Plans what W 74 34' 12" N means?Since here we have one angle and two directions. Regards

Unfortunately I'm not exactly sure what that might mean - I would have to consult with the person that put that angular dimension in there. Sorry I can't really help more.

Bearing possibly. Usually has a distance with it also. I.e. boundary survey of the property lines.

How do you know you're lined up with the grid? Do have to find it manually

Yes, you need to find it manually. Station on the control points you believe to be correct, and tehn walk with the total station to the grids on the job. Then ask yourself: does the total station's measurements match what you would esxpect in the field?
