I can not believe how smart you are. Obviously you have had a lot of on the job training. I don’t think there is any task you can’t handle. That is one aspect of your channel that keeps me intrigued.

Freeman Marine in Gold Beach Oregon has all the parts you need. It's made there'. I worked there for 34 years

Nice job. Freemans ain't cheap. It was all I could do to re-gasket one, I never rebuilt one. . The previous owner used that small hydro tank for all his equipment and steering? Great idea to re-use it for a dedicated steering system. Nice video to enjoy while sipping my coffee. 🙂

In a situation like that with a hole saw I like to drill the 1/4" pilot where I want it and then use a 1/4" solid rod with a flat ground in for the actual hole sawing. Keeps the oscillations to a minimum and the solid rod is stronger than the fluted drill bit. An acid bath with muriatic acid and a good flushing after can make that old aluminum easier to deal with.

They still make Freeman hatches just south of us in Gold Beach, Oregon. Sadly the marina there has almost no fishing vessels anymore.

The bushing looks like a piece of PVC pipe cut to fit. Holes drilled in the tank could use some cutting oil, I use PAM spray as a lubricant.

Why you don’t sand blast the parts. It makes it ready for welding and painting. 😊
