I am so glad to see the whole family doing everything together and I will say pops has got a very good way of explaining everything that y'all do.and it is pretty impressive how much all of you can jump in and help each other getting it done.lol pretty good work on the composite deck boards because I use this material almost every day now on decks and it is so much better than wood and even if it is off just a little doesn't matter because you can always make it work . thank you for the video appreciate y'all's time to even video everything for us to enjoy

This deck project is just amazing to watch unfold. When you transported the boat up from southern Alaska, it was difficult to comprehensively understand how it would be re-configured. I'm betting that you didn't foresee the full scope either. I also appreciate the detailed explanation of the steps taken to provide an adequate work setting, to protect harbor environment, and ensure the asethics of the finished project (including precautions to prevent "uglifying" your work). As soon as I see an episode released I immediately watch it. I've have learned to be patient as to what the future of the Emerald Isle holds ...

Well thank you t I did not even think about putting anti-seizing on any of the boats I never even thought about it So now I'm going to start putting it on there as of Monday when I go back and do this other deck didn't even cross my mind I appreciate that information I'm 55 and I have not even thought about it lol .but hey with you and a few others I watch I still learn things maybe not learn every time but give pointers I believe I should say but thank you for the suggestion I will do it.abd if I have to go back and replace any boards it will make it where I don't have to cut the bolts off got to keep all the rust off from in between the thread thanks for the idea lol I had a point for it all these days lol

I appreciate the extra effort demonstrating the details, and YES it is very useful information. Most of the guys I associate with own boats and decking is a big part of owning a boat. In the past 20 years , new materials provide options. When plastic deck boards became available, we talked about using them but I hadn’t seen any done. I bought a load of cedar to deck a boat but the quality was very poor/expensive and required lots of preparation (the cedar was turned into doors). So I am going to put plastic decking, this video is perfect timing and I get to have a look at your work.(thanks). Looks like your using stainless fasteners, with nylock nuts and washer. What grade stainless ? And how do you get a nut to the blind holes? I’ve considered using aluminum nuts,bolts washers and then very heavy pop rivets on the blind holes ? I test installed some stainless Rivnuts in the stringers, and used cap bolts to hold down the boards. Works good but too many cons to be viable for entire deck. Very expensive/time consuming and error prone biggest drawback. REALLY FINE BOAT !

Looking great guys. Can i suggest you get some plugs 3d printed for the holes. Would be easy to do with a cheapish printer.

Extend the fuel caps up above the deck level. So you don’t have to pull decking every time you get fuel.

That's the plan! Actually, it's already mostly done, we just have a few more deck boards to attach. Our recent livestream was kind of a sneak peak, hehe.

Good eye Rusty. Yes, the port side tanks are finished up. Just need to get the hydro tank locked in good before filling it. Happy to say they turned out great, only a few tiny pinholes in the hydro tank when we leak tested it. The fuel tank is filled and capacity came to 150 gallons withl 4" of headroom! So very pleased about that. We put the stb tank on hold for now as we have plenty of fuel capacity atm.

Are you guys going to be hiring crew to operate both vessels?

It is covered by a removable insert with the same deck material. You can hardly tell it is there!

I love you guys and have watched yall for years and I might be speaking to so but it looks like all the money 💰 yall have put into her yall would have painted the deck underneath not so it looks good because it's going to be cover up but to make it last longer 😊lol

Hi Phil. It is already protected by fiberglass. The paint and gelcoat where we patched holes or eliminated other through fitting are adequate to protect the surface. You can't really see the origional deck when looking through the spaces between the false deck boards.

When water seeps between the false deck, how will ir drain?

It flows to the side and out the scuppers as it normally would. The crown of the deck guides water outboard. This is also a reason for the false deck, its a more flat plane which provides comfort while standing. Compare that to standing on a slight incline that the crown of the deck adds.

How do you fix the last board to the deck? Because then there is no space on the left or right to reach underneath with your hand and fix the counter screw.

Aha! An astute observer. A short stainless plate tapped for the bolts, or with nuts welded to the backside will be positioned at each stringer and held in place with counter screw. Then last plank can go down and bolts will thread into plate.

So you're just using lag bolts threaded into the fiberglass stringes? I wouldn't have thought that would be enough meat to hold the lag bolts really.

No, they are through bolted. Washer and nyloc nut on backside.

@@EISAlaska Thought so when T mentioned he had bolts and nuts. What are you going to do on the ends against the bulwarks to get a nut on the bottom? I assume the other places you can pull the hatches and such to get to the outside ones.
