How many stitch lengths does it have for adjusting

Hello, new to sewing. I'm looking to get into vintage auto upholstery and wondering your opinion on a Consew 226 (not 226R). I have a line on one that looks nice and around $500 with a servo motor and stand. I will probably only do 3 or 4 car interiors, but want to do the work myself. Should I hold out for a reversing machine 226R? Your thoughts?

It's a good machine watch some videos on how to lock the stitch and if you are comfortable with this method you should do just fine.

I need to buy a walking sewing machine.can you tell me where I find a good machine.

Can you show how to add a swing away binder attachment to this model? I don't understand the mounting holes on this model.

@@jennifertollefson8500 I did take mine to someone that adjusted my machine. I wasn't having problems with it making a good stitch. I just wanted my forward and reverse stitch to be the same length so when I locked my stitch it went in the same holes. So the machine can be made to do that. The only downside is that your maximum stitch length is a little shorter.

What's the maximum thickness and thread size you can do with this? Will it sew veg tan leather?

@@pickles21000 I have one for sale I do uph.for 46yrs by far this 226r machine was best produced I have seen on just about all the machines this is less maintenance always sews perfect I have had it for 20yrs never ever had problem asking 900.00 found another one don't need two don't have the room
