SE MN SEWING MACHINES

SE MN SEWING MACHINES

When I first started on KZread I was just posting videos to share with friends and family. I started posting a few videos of sewing machines I had repaired to sell on Craigslist so I changed the channel name from my name to SE MN Sewing Machines. I have other interests also and may post videos of a few of my vintage cameras in the spring 2021, they will be in a separate playlist to keep things organized. Thanks for watching my videos and getting the channel to where it is today.
My profile picture is of the Catholic church in Playa del Carmen Mexico, Capilla de Nta Señora del Carmen, was walking at night with my camera and took the photo, I think it makes for a good profile picture.

You just saved my dang sewing machine at 3:22. I had to take it apart due to a thread jam and could not for the life of me figure out how that hook shaped part of the bobbin assembly was supposed to go around the plate below the foot. Thank you so much for this video!

I inherited what I believe is this exact machine with the leather belt drive. The table looks identical as well. One owner and I have all the paperwork and manuals. Even the original receipt. I’d like to sell it. In southern New Hampshire.

Hey i have a juki motor that humms when on but the wheel doesn't engage. It used to sound like yours too but now you just feel the hum, what might be the problem?

Kenmores from the 70s are such marvels. They are easy to understand and the least fussy of six other brands from the 70s.

Thanks for the detailed video with great camera shots. My Singer 66 didn't come with an instruction booklet. I've found them online but there are many that say Singer 66 but there are different ones like 66, 66-1, 66-18. How do I know which booklet to get for my machine? Mine was made in 1928 according to the serial number.

Hello, what a joy to see your explanations of how the Adler 167 works!!!! I have no knowledge in the field and I just bought an Adler 167-373. I have no documents with the machine. Do you have a digital version of these documents? I could only find the parts list. I can't find the instruction manual...You would be my savior 😉 Thanks in advance

I learned to sew on one of these in primary school.... they have the best bobbin winders ever... smooth and controllable . I have just been gifted a 1922 machine from a friend's 92 year old mum. which is now in the service shop. Can't wait to get it back. Tip; on this particular model with the thumb screw stitch length control, never wind the handle backwards, it knots up the bobbin. Love to see you use the accessories.

Thanks for such a straightforward guide to this machine. It reassured me I could undertake basic cleaning & lubricating myself. I’d love to send a photo of what I found … not sure how it accumulated so much grease in 48 years😮, but it is clean and WD40´d now.

My mom had one of those machines. I bought one from a sewing shop about 7 years ago...for around $550.00. It did not have a foot pedal, so I had to order one but it works. also had to order needles and bobbin spools, and needles. Don't know a thing about how to fix it up, where to put the oil, how to fill up the bobbins and How to set the tension. The foot pedal doesn't look like the original, but it works. Do you have more videos? I want to know how to oil this little machine, and how to fill up a bobbin and generally how to get it to sew. I will try to use it for making quilts. Thanks you so much for your videos. I am grateful there are people like you who can show us how to take care of these little wonders. Much love and respect to you.

Hi Thank you for your video. I have the same machine, unfortunately it's not working. The power is on, but no noise what so ever from the motor. When I pressed the foot paddle error e7 came up. I turned it off and on serveral times. Same problem. Do you know what the problem is with my machine? I read online some people suggested that it might be a foot control faulty or a motor faulty. How can I check? Like to know if anyone else have the same problem or a solution. Thank you.

You are doing it wrong. You cannot remove the position bracket because you mess around with the gap between the feather of the bracket and the bobbin case. You have to gauge this gap back.

The 158 series Kenmores were made by Maruzen in Tokyo, Japan for Sears. Maruzen later made the Jaguar cars. The 385 series was made by Janome and looked like a Janome too. That was later after the 158 series was done. You have got yourself a beauty there! Very nice machine, solid and a workhorse. Use Triflow Silicone lube and synthetic grease to prevent gummy oil.
