A perfect Connie Francis moment. There were many of those Connie Francis moments on "Ed Sullivan." But "Al Di La" is a delightful marriage of a singer and a song. Thanks for posting this.

No one can ever compare to our beautiful Connie. God gave her the most amazing voice of all time. This song Al Di La is one of my favorites and I've never heard anyone sing it like this ever.

For those who are curious. This song was written in 1961 by Giulio Rapetti aka Mogol. It was his first hit. In the following years he wrote among the most beautiful and beloved Italian songs for many singers. I mention one of them: Lucio Battisti. His songs, or rather his poems, marked an era and continue to arouse emotions even in younger generations. Notice. To fully appreciate these poems and experience the emotions they provoke, one must know Italian or at least another Neo-Latin language into which they were translated. Happy research.

His "Bella Linda" was covered by US band The Grass Roots ... what a shame this legend of Italian music is not more known internatioanally.

She has you on the first note. What a voice.

Been listening to Connie Francis since age 3 or 4 in 1959 or 1960 and think her music and songs are the best ! She and Judy Garland are the best singers out there ! Been watching Connie on You Tube since 2008 when I got my first computer ! Shes a classy lady with class and style !

Connie Francis was an unbelievable talent. Added to that is her extreme poise, class, and equanimity. Every movement she makes is so assured and confident. She was born to perform.

If my memory is correct, Connie has italian roots in her family. So, her italian diction plus an amazing voice makes this song a real treat!! She was very popular in those days yet on the long run she did not have managers that made future audiences place her on the level SHE DESERVED!!

She is well remembered. I saw her in concert in Ft. Lauderdale in 2010. I had traveled all the way from Seattle to see this wonderful artist. The venue was filled to overflowing; and not just with snowbirds and aging baby boomers like myself. I even got to meet her afterwards. Always going to be one of the high points of my life.

Perhaps you could consider Connie's performances of Going out of my head/Sunny, I found myself a guy or the wonderful medley where she sings her million selling hits in Berlin for our next treat? Would be very much appreciated.

Definitely one of Connie's best. Loved this from the first time I heard it.

I just noticed the papers blowing around on the piano behind her! Nothing could detract from this amazing performance, though.

Ms. Francis always was a knock-out vocalist, and this is a prime example of her skill. 💕So magnificent to see these live clips from the past! Simple music….wonderful songs…superb vocals with no enhancements…how wonderful that these shows were recorded “just” with equipment on set (which were full orchestras and state-of-the-art, Broadway theater level acoustics and sound management). And they sound superb!

She's really incomparable, Her singing hits deep into the heart.

Of all the female singers God has put on this earth, there's no one to ever beat the fabulous Connie Francis. Every word, every note comes straight from her heart. Her voice is such that it can induce the water works, especially when one is feeling down. I do wish I knew Italian. I've loved the song 'Al Di La' ever since I heard it in the 1963 film 'Lovers Must Learn' sung by the equally fabulous Emelio Pericoli. The film starred the gorgeous, Suzanne Pleshette and heart-throb, Troy Donahue on whom the song is featured. The number is truly "timeless"!!!

Oh did i have a crush on Connie back in the day back in summer of 61 when i was all of 13 i thought she was the most beautiful lady with a beautiful voice....and still do today....bless you Connie for all the great songs and who can forget that movie "where the boys are" so glad they allowed her in the movie....being born in the same city as Connie Newark New Jersey....what a wonderful city to grow up in with its parks..movies, and department Stores..who could not like the different sections of Newark...i know Newark has had its bad times...but whose fault is that...my family left Newark in '63 after living there forever....i was 16 at the time...and that was forever to me at the time...but what a voice this singer has i just hope she gets into the hall of fame...for singers..
