The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Who could ask for more: Connie singing about love! No one can hold a candle to this lady when it comes to delivering a love song. Thanks a million for uploading this truly outstanding performance. Two more wonderful performances from this show have yet to be released : When the boy in your arms and Zena Zena. Fingers crossed ...

I agree! I would place Judy Garland on that list as well. Few singers can evoke those pangs and joys... REALLY make you feel
Wow!!! Nobody these days can touch hearts the way Connie has for decades... She's simply sensational xxx

Now you don't need talent to be famous! A great shame. Very few good voices become famous. Most singers and songs are mediocre at best!
In the 50s and in the 60s the world...❤...her...voice...so...sweet....like...🎉
her voice transports you back...to the good old days.
Wow! Still chokes me up. Before there was Celine Dion, there was Connie Francis.......

When people think of the '60s, they think of granny dresses, tie-dye and love beads. The first few years of the '60s looked more like a continuation of the '50s! 🤣

You can have Barbara Streisand , not that she's not great, but no one can sing like Connie. NO ONE!!
She's phenomenal !!
In a time when a singer sang a song the way it was written ,today it is over styled that you don't recognize it.

Love is a many splendored thing, It's the April rose That only grows in the early Spring Love is natures way of giving, A reason to be living, The golden crown that makes a man, a king Once on a high and windy hill, In the morning mist, two lovers kissed And the world stood still Then your fingers touched my silent heart And taught it how to sing Yes, true love's a many splendored thing Once on a high and windy hill, In the morning mist, two lovers kissed And the world stood still Then your fingers touched my silent heart And taught it how to sing I like her version…
Love this song, and Connie's performance, but why have her sing it in 1961? I am relieved that Ed didn't have her sing "When the Saints Go Marching In" or "Bill Bailey."
She can sell a song
Is that a pearl necklace?!

Yes, it is. It's looks perfect with that open dress. That's my birthstone. 💖
She was a terrific singer with perfect phrasing. The powers that be tried to force her into movies, which were a bad fit for her - it was all about the voice, and when she made a film, it seemed that they didn't know what to do with her, or how to make her shine. This happened to way too many talented singers sadly. Robert Goulet, Patti Page, Mel Torme, Rosemary Clooney - the list goes on. They didn't belong on the screen. Not even Goulet, who was a very good looking man, and Rosemary Clooney was a very pretty girl - It was all about the voice. These singers shone in the recording studios, and television. Movies - no.
Beyonce who?
over-rated song in my opinion.....but Sinatras recording is still the best
