yup. Charge 3, 4 and 5 cant connect with each other either in any combination... i wonder what shat in their head to change it with EVERY generation and not make it backwards compatible... not getting any of those ever again...

The range of Connect+ is double the range of original JBL Connect, but Party Boost has almost double the range of Connect+

Sony tried to make their speakers' upgrade backwards compatible and the range was worse than Connect+

Thanks for the detail explaining. It's too late to see this video I just tried to pair flip4 & 5 (which i got today) in front of my family... It's a problem if JBL doesn’t list this pair limitation on flip5 product information... sigh

I was just about to buy a flip 5. I have 2 flip 4s but I am not out of principal . Why on earth would this be done? It happened with the Pulse 3 didn’t connect to my 2. That’s why. Bought the flip. But that’s it. Flip 4 is pretty incredible. Deep rich sound.

So after a few minutes of wiggling a few JBL speakers around, which almost drove me insane, the clear answer is NO. Different protocol so no go. Understandable as it's meant to pair 2 of the same speakers, they don't want you to link a new to an old speaker, they want you to buy 2 new ones. So the flip6 will use partymode+ which will not be compatible with the flip5

Well I've previously owned the !JBL Charge 4 and it's an amazing speaker but.... Just carrying it around was a complain, yes I do have a backpack, yes I do have hands... But I just want something I can listen to without holding it in my hands or having to carry it in my back where it'll sound muffled, and it can't fit in the cup holder on the side of my bag so therefore I'd choose the Flip series now when it comes down to the flip series I want something with good design and sound... But with "Bass" now yes Flip 1, 2, 3 have stereo but less bass, and connect plus... But then I want something with bass, better looks and over all size... So I'd choose the Flip 5 over the Charge 4, and the Xtreme 2...

You can combine the deeper in settings but now I'm getting a delay?

I connected them. Connect your phone to both and then enable sync play in your advanced bt settings

I have a JBL flip 5 and JBL xtreme 1 and I also have a Samsung S8+ and I managed to connect both but not with the JBL App...with my bluetooth settings. So anyone having S8 or up or some iPhones, can connect both, just head to your bluetooth settings and under the advanced menu you can connect 'dual audio' 😁

I already had a JBL4 and was going to get a 2nd one but was gonna go with the jbl5 or 6... but because of this I just went with another JBL4!

Got my dad a flip5 for his birthday. And thinking I can connect my charge3 and flip3 to it too. Yet. I got bamboozled again by JBL. JBL fix this.

Nor can you connect the extreme 2 to a flip 5 even though they are the newest models of each series. Whack.

Some smartphones allow to connect and use two Bluetooth speakers at the same time. I’ve never used one of those phones, so I don’t know how well that works.

For waterproof reason it have not the aux connector

I just spent so many hours with a brand new jbl charge 4 with my fairly new flip 5. Wondering what is going on? Now I know. So lame. But I’m sure they have a good reason. Will research more

Thanks I just made a great deal on a second hand Flip 4 - And the way I answer a company for doing this kind of bullshit is by making this my last JBL product purchase for life. I did that with Sony 32 years ago (And I also worked in an electronics store and steered all my client away from them! Lol!)

@My Devices SONOS did that a few years ago …planned obsolescence …Apple denies it but they somehow get super slow in order to convince you to buy a new phone and camera. I recently learned on how apple is using the Blue Meshnet (sp?) in order to track us, find our EMEI #s wherever we are. And to use our battery life and blue tooth to find phones or the apple equivalent of itiles.

Updates will be made on all connect+ speakers i guess...😕

It seems to me that this is no accident. I've supported JBL and all those speakers from the first flip one. now I am getting a little bit tired of always having to upgrade my perfectly good working speakers just to support the new Bluetooth connection mode. now I have a JBL boombox to flip 4s I will have to sell and repurchase because I am guessing that a new boombox will be available with the new Bluetooth connection. I was just waiting for this to happen. This is getting boring and predictive, change the record JBL. in fact this time round I am thinking of skipping this upgrade for this very reason

If you have a newer Samsung you can still connect them together with Samsung dual audio. So yes you can connect them together:)

@@swekiwi4517 ok so just connect both speakers and when you swipe down from the top of the screen you will see "media" press that and enable Samsung dual audio. I found still dont get it search it up on KZread I guarantee you will figure it out. Note that speakers with different audio kodaks or bluetooth versions can be out of sync and that problem cannot be fixed.

That's just so lame! What a greedy $ strategy. Thank you for this. I just got a flip 4, then found out about the flip 5, got that thinking, okay, party time...nope! They won't even play correctly together in duel mode bluetooth mode.

I am SO fed up with JBL’s disrespect to their clients. First, it was connect, then connect+, then party boost and now Auracast? Non of them are compatible with one another, that is a ridiculous! They force you to buy two or more of the same items or buy different speaker models of the same generation which is a dirty move by them.

I don't have a Flip3 at the moment, so I am not certain. The question is if there was a firmware update for the Flip3 that updates the older 'Connect' to 'Connect+'. There were a few JBL models that were able to do this update.

JBL changing this is bullshit I have a xtreme 1 and a flip 4 that can not connect. I was going to get a flip 5 but since they don't want you to connect your speakers together I will do a hard pass on the flip off 5. JBL is really pissing me off with changing to a 3rd version of speaker connect that you can not connect speakers from its own brand.
