Very nice of this coach to say something supportive. There is no reason Sides should keep her job. She had a #1 pick, championship Center who has regressed in every area of her game, a #6 SG who was a sniper at Stanford who is a benchwarmer and still sat at #9. Gets an ELITE PG and decides to make her change her game to shoot "long two's" instead of the logo 3's that got her to #1. Sides has to go. Now. Full stop.

However, there are fans who are expecting her to resume the dominance she had in college, right away. Her team remains to be seen, they're all learning each other. They just played two solid veteran teams, one which was a championship contender, the other with the best defense last year. The team needs grace too, for now.

I just watched one of the championship games of Iowa. What an effective smooth offense by Iowa after having to watch Fever. I completely understand CC frustration going from that to whatever Fever is doing. I just wish the WNBA players would stop with all these narratives outside of games. It’s not a good look and I don’t see her doing that to the next Star rookie.

After that I could not get enough. I watched the Elite 8, Final 4 and Championship game either live or in full shortly after. Everybody talking about the W being a much higher standard seemed logical to me, after all the vast majority of seniors across America were NOT going to be drafted to a league that can only support 12 players. Then I watched the Fever games with mounting disbelief. Whether they are bad or the opponents are good, I'm not experienced enough to tell but it would be like putting Usain bolt in rubber boots and seeing if he could still run as fast.

What narratives? The only thing the players have said that coming into the WNBA won't be the same as college, and they were 100% right, and it's being proven right in front of our eyes. That doesn't mean that CC won't go on to have a great career, but it is a really hard league to come into. And it's not even what the Fever it's doing, it's also that most defenses in this league are generally speaking better than college defenses. They're faster, stronger, more athletic, better organized, higher basketball IQ, etc.

@@BenjWarrant Having watched both the WNBA and women's college basketball for about 10 years now, I can tell you that Iowa would get absolutely clapped by any WNBA team. Any college team would. The game is not the same. Individuals are better in every aspect, team defenses and defensive schemes are more sophisticated and better, it's just overall a very different game. Any WNBA player will tell you that, so you don't have to take my word for it. Caitlin is having to work much harder for her looks and I'm sure she'll adjust over time, but it doesn't happen overnight. And as far as these first two games, there's a reason the Fever have had two first draft picks in a row. It's a very young team that is very much trying to build something from the bottom up, and so far they've gone up against last season's semifinalist and finalist so the difference in quality looks even more striking. But give it time, throwing her teammates and coaches under the bus after two games is not gonna help anyone except her haters. A'ja Wilson and Breanna Stewart didn't light the league on fire in their first season, and now they're multiple-time champions and MVPs and the two best players in the world. It takes time even for the greatest.

I don’t think coaches or players actually know what’s going on social media, they just get baited by the actual media. If Clark wasn’t doing badly, then her fans wouldn’t be threatening and blaming EVERY single person around her. You can’t have it both ways. Stephanie White is a terrific coach! She sounds like a female version of Geno! This is the first time I've heard her, but now, I'm a CT Sun FAN!!!!! She's a no nonsense coach and really knows what basketball is all about.

I would never criticize a player after two bad games at the beginning of her career. On the other hand, I would not throw everyone else under the bus--coaches, teammates, opponents, referees, league officials--in an effort to excuse her poor performance. Caitlin Clark is a talented player adjusting to the professional ranks. Her fans are a cult.

Yes! It's only 2 games. You win some and lose some. The defending NBA Champ lose 3 games out of the last six games, and the last one by a whopping 45 points.

The game tonight had 6,874, whereas when the fever were there, 8,910...other teams are moving to bigger venues when the fever come to town...2.1 million people watched the sun fever game...by the end of the season the wnba will turn a profit for the first time ever...Thats what these other wnba players will need to thank CC about and be petty and jealous that she's able to produce those numbers and they can't (minus angel reese and cameron brink)

Clark plays on the worst team, that is why she was drafted #1 for the Fever. They can't expect her to overnight bring that team to excellence. Unfortunately, the Fever does not have any other good players to make a solid team. Team like the Liberty, Aces, Lynx, Dream, Sun have experience players. The Fever need time to develop.

CC not the problem. Coach Sides is. Boston is way under performing and Wheeler sucks. They need to shoot more 3s as a team and not long 2s. CC needs to play the ONE only.

NOBODY on that Fever team cuts to the basket without the ball (it’s not just CC) and if they do, it’s delayed and slow! I think that last play at the end of the 3rd qtr was supposed to be a pick and roll to NaLyssa, but NaLyssa tried setting a second screen instead of immediately rolling to the basket….had she immediately cut to the basket, they would have had enough time to get that shot off and cut the Liberty lead down to 9. BUT the coach killed the momentum anyway by putting Boston and Wheeler back on the floor anyway, so there’s that. The Fever offense definitely stinks…the offensive sets absolutely suck and with a younger team, you would think they would take advantage and adopt a more transition style of offense and get some easy layups (provided they make them). Sheesh, I could go on and on. CC is trying real hard to play along with this coach and her crappy offensive plan, but the reality is, the coach needs to be replaced with an experienced head coach that has demonstrated the ability to build a cohesive winning team!

You really think that Caitlin had nothing to do with loss? Take a look at her stats and it may help to understand how she contributed to the loss. Don’t label her as ‘mamba’ because Kobe could create his own shot. At this level, the players are 100% better than college players. Iowa spoiled her by having every member on the team throw up screens for her all throughout the game, she needs to learn how to create space for herself. Also, she better hurry and cash that NIKE check QUICK.
