G'day Chris & Miriam, Well presented, some very valid points raised .The type road one plans to travel is big one ,an the weights all though not covered fully is another big one , many know they are over but are in denial. Titanium vans are no doubt high quality, but with many KZreadr presenters turning their vans over so often 12- 18 months, not a true indication of the long term build quality is difficult to assess. What great advise you just gave. Too my wife and I 5 years looking 7 years ago to decide on a van. Now we are in the process of buying a new van in about 6 months time, fully electric, dust proof, composite etc, won’t mention the brand but after 7 years caravanning, (not full time) we know what we want and need and are lucky enough to afford. This will be our last caravan due to age. All the points you mentioned were so valid well done. Just love you both with your vest for life and you are one of the bests putting your you tube vids up to watch. Can’t wait each week, and after I have watched then, just can’t wait till next week. Lots of good info guys. Our previous caravan we purchased at a RV show, the salesman had never spent a night in a caravan and had very little knowledge about the van he was trying to sell me, so you really need to carry out a lot of research prior to purchasing. I guess if you were to differentiate between TIG welds and Rivets you would need to know the difference between Shear Strength and Tensile Strength. Research is always the key. Aeroplane frames are generally both welded and riveted. They weld in some areas but due to maintenance issues they need to rivet in places where they can easily drill out a rivet to access other areas. The rivets that you and I can see from our windows are cladding rivets which basically hold the thin alloy skin on. Once again, rivetted because of the gauge of the alloy sheets being prone to heat retardation or for ease of removal for inspection purposes. Self piercing rivets are generally avoided in aero-space due to metal fatigue and much data can be found on many Google searches. Pre-Drilled rivets are the general go-to in Aero-space. Tensile strength is the actual strength of the "pull on the rivet" where-as the Shear Strength is the strength of the sideways action against the rivet. One could argue that the Shear Strength is more important rather than the Tensile strength but the surrounding metal that has been subject to "self-Piercing" rather than "Pre-Drilling" is what could be subject to failure. If one was to actually research one would generally find that self-piercing rivet systems are not widely used within the aero-space industry, for obvious reasons. Self Piercing Rivets, according to some available data, could subject some grades of surrounding metals to undue stress and fracture, which under flex and stress may or may not be an issue over time.

You touched on alot of good points and i think you have been very helpful for alot of people 👍, one thing you did mention was wheels OMG a friend of mine was behind a caravan and one of the wheels on the right side of the van gave way and a chunk of that wheel broke loose and went straight through the middle of his windscreen, cheap wheels just like you said. 😮 Get the good stuff people 👍 personally I'm not a van person i love my double big daddy swag when i go on fishing trips. Love the caravan shows when we just are browsing but now we are in the market to upgrade we find them exhausting haha but we are suckers for punishment and just recovered from the Geelong show and ready to try again at the Melbourne show!

Love going to the caravan shows and looking in the caravans there are so many great ideas from innovative storage ideas to the amazing decor that are in the caravans now a days. Hey guys awesome video, people are missing the point here. Yes its an ad for titanium, yes they are saying their opinions paid or not. However the message is still valid all of these things you should be looking for objectively. They gave alot of good things to have a good think about. We have bought a hybrid camper and its going to tick multiples of their boxes but the experience has been crap, owners havent been great to deal with and going again i wouldnt choose the same company twice. Will i get a quality product? Most likely. Will i get great service? Probably not. Lucky i can do most of it myself. But its a trap for people who cant.

Hi we have put a deposit on a Titanium we will be there after the show sad to say ,my biggest thing is as long as I can run aircon though The day as i feel the heat, 1100-1200W solar and 8-900A Lit battery. We would love to go to the Melbourne show, never been there only to the Sydney show. Definitely looking for a new van, must be quality construction and manufacturer and dealer to have a good customer service, something that 90% don’t have. Titanium Caravans seem to tick all the boxes, especially after we did a trip to Coffs and met the guys at the dealership, so fingers crossed.

Interested to know your definition of a "semi off road" van. Background: I'm looking at retirement soon, grey nomad, bigs laps, etc. Will be selling my 30yr old Millard van, looking to upgrade. Not planning to do the Gibb etc, mostly blacktop, some corrugated roads, and some beaches. Thinking full off road van would be an overkill for my requirements. Interested in your comments. Thanks.

Semi off road vans generally have better suspension, better protection & more clearance than full on road vans 😁 But be very wary - lots of companies promote ‘off road vans’ with flashy things like rock bars - but they aren’t really that great. Hope that helps!

Forgot to add that considering that the rivetted sections of aeroplanes have the rivet spacing at around 10-20mm and caravan frame rivets are spaced at around 300mm to 400mm then I guess caravan rivetted frames really can't be compared to aerospace..

It's assessed on a case by case basis, but Titanium really do go above and beyond in this area. Really, everyone should be getting a proper handover on a true offroad van. 😁

In my experience in aviation rivets are always used for less fatigue. Mainly solid rivets pre drilled though.

Piercing rivets are extremely strong and allow for movement. This is why all aircraft’s are manufactured this way.

Currently we are building our new truck. That always takes a while. Our videos are going to be different moving forward as there are too many people doing the same thing these days. We head off again end of May and there will be travel content again but not like it used to be.

You missed the number one tip...Quality Assurance. Only purchase a new caravan from companies that take the quality of their products seriously and have a robust quality assurance management system in place. Titanium only talk the talk....nothing on their website stating which QA system they work to.

What the? The warranty is assurance is it not? They have the best follow up and customer service in the industry and their vans are in the top five of quality vans in the country. Just read the reviews - or call them and ask. They’ll be happy to show or tell you. They have an open door policy 👍🏼
