When I work out my cost of travelling, I personally don’t add the cost of rego and insurance, as no matter whether you’re travelling or not travelling, the cost is there regardless. I think people need to also consider the cost of not travelling, ie: staying home and leading a “normal” life of work, picking up the kids from daycare, school, visiting friends and family etc. there’s a financial cost to not travelling also. We all go to the supermarket to buy food, pay electricity and gas bills, internet and Netflix, so whether you’re travelling or not, the cost is there. Admittedly, buying groceries and fuel remotely will cost you considerably more. I try and work out the cost of staying home apposed to travelling and the difference is how I calculate my true cost of travel. Oh, by the way, love your content, don’t change anything.
@elnick.adventures

Yeah the reason we include it is because the money has to come from somewhere so if its not included for us it’s not a true budget on how much we can spend and our savings etc (: 🤘 but appreciate your view on it! thank you for watching 🤠

Rego’s and especially insurance is criminal, than when you have the need to claim they just try and worm out of everything so when they relent and give in for a few bucks they make you feel guilty for not accepting it ( don’t get me started) good honest vid is appreciated

Guys. What a great honest review of costs. I was surprised to be honest. I actually thought with such a large rig, van etc it would be way more. You don't miss out on anything as you have a wonderful time. I agree, I have seen reviews when they are towing an average size van with a dual cab that claim it can't be done for under 100K a yr. So the question has to be asked . Your income does the monthly outgoing, exceed your incomings. A lot of families or couples travelling never refer to how much income they make of youtube or other ventures when doing their budgeting videos . Because the reality is you need an income of sorts to be able to travel full-time or as some of the grey nomads a pension. An insight into that would be beneficial when doing budget videos. Thanks . Great fun video to watch as always.

Love your set up. It is hard to convert to US $$ but suggest a end of year summery would give a true average cost of living. One Item I think you missed was depreciation on the truck and caravan. You had to buy them and they well lose value over time (depreciation). It is a real cost. Keep up the good work. I hope someday to return to Australia and spend a few months overlanding in Australia's remote areas. In the mean time we explore Eastern Oregon and Western US remote areas.

whats the cost if you took out your reg and insurances as thats a yearly must pay. your entertainment, dinning out and say do with out stuff like say snacks. maybe take out the boat cost too and an extra expense. do you have to pay medical fees or prescription meds or such, hope you do a year end up date if you care to share you full year costs as i have seen some full time rv, van life and campers do their year end and wow.. i know im shocked when i do my own year end at tax time. your vid was very eye opening. thanks for sharing your info

KZreadrs always tell us what it costs but they never tell us where the money comes from. (:

the thing is that even at home we have to buy food and takeaways, phone, internet, so its not much different, at home we pay rent $400 a week, insurance, and we have cars and caravans we are hardly using and still paying rego and insurance, so Fuel and extra insurance (due to having a new truck and van) would be the extra costs of travelling. NOW next you could tell us your income, from merch and youtube, my guess with 37k subscribers is $4k a month. Thanks for your great show, one day i will be travelling soon,

Oh really! Will have to have a look (: thank you (:
Not as much as I thought. Insurance is the killer. Could possibly have included depreciation. In a home you'd hope the value goes up.

Thank you! It was super interesting for us too (:
i've watched heaps of these budget style vids lately. The thing for me i don't understand, is how is everyone funding this? Did you sell your house? do you have a work from home job where all you need is a internet connection? inheritance? are you just really good at saving money? have an abundance of cash where you can just live freely? no one really gives the answers to those sorts of questions. At some pint in your life you chose (family) time over money, i just want to know at what point financially, can i do that myself?

😂😂oh Lee! Hahaha but yes probs hahaha thanks for watching 🤠
Hold on....Am I missing something here. You didn't tell us WHAT YOU SPENT ON THE MEAT PACK !!!!? Was that in the woolies food cost, or was that extra which we didn't get to hear!!!!???? (apologies for the exclamation and question marks - I'm frustrated as... with the figures here!). If you like your coffees so much why don't you invest in a Breville Barista Pro. Yes the outlay is large but the cost comes down the more you use it and The coffee is SO GOOD. You'll save $3.50-$4.50 each time you make one. And you'll get a lot of enjoyment out of learning how to make a good coffee and doing it for yourself each morning when you're miles from a shop!!!!!!! Great stuff this week guys and thank YOU so much for taking not just the time to bring this breakdown to us, but to bring the honest to goodness data to us all re the real cost of living THE LIFE. Having watch more than a few shows I'm Sure that the cost for many channel is much more north of your figure. Does WA have a discounted National Parks ticket if purchased when getting you rego? NSW does and it helps significantly - giving you access to EVERWHERE except the Snowy parks. On another note, I really love the banter and chemistry between he two of you. Elenya really loves you Nick and the lifestyle. Do NOT do anything to upset you wonderful apple cart! You have it so good when a woman will put up with everything you do!!! And I love Elena's smile when she off in her own thoughts when she corrects you or adds her bit! So touching! (I know you secret Elenya... You're secretly a good natured witch, You secret is safe with me). 🤣🤣🤣

Certainly did and s real eye opener's costs ect. Our travelling seems real boring compared to what you do Staying on the black top and mostly van parks and the odd free camp. Some tv channel should contact you both about doing a TV series
How much would your monthly costs be if you were home ? Probably not much difference? Enjoy your vids
