This tutorial made wanna throw my computer out of the window. My 3D renderer was set to Cinema 4D and in this mode the effects are not applied to 3D layers, so nothing worked until I switched back to Classic 3D. Before I figured out what was wrong I seriously was thinking of dropping motion design forever. And yeah, the auto-orient glitch as well, because why not 😅

I can't get the orientation to work either. Tried all the tips here. Whenever I set auto orient to camera my shape layer goes back to it's original position and simply won't move. Great looking tutorial though. Literally the second I posted that comment I went back and simply did CTRL+Alt+Home on both the shape and the null to put the anchor in the middle and boom, it started working. Not sure really why that was the issue but that took 90 minutes to figure out 🤣🤪

Thanks Chris! I did a fireworks tutorial years ago, but it uses a plugin. kzread.info/dash/bejne/mqaXysZ6nsLVj7Q.html If we can figure out how to make a cool firework without plugins, we'll be down to do it.

If the track matte is not working check that your renderer is on "Classic 3D" and not "Cinema 4D"

If you struggle with the auto orientation tried this : 1- create the shape layer 2- new camera on two-node camera 3 - null object 4 - put the camera on top 5 - put camera, null and shape on 3D 6 - rotation the null object 7 - parent the shape layer to the null 8 - and then auto orient camera the shape layer It should work :)
