I was really hoping this was going to be using Video Copilot's VC Orb plug-in.

So simple, yet such a fantastic idea and jaw dropping results. I used the texture map on my logo and dropped it onto the planet and it makes an ultra cool logo reveal.

elipse tool, without a fill, set to 3d then positioned properly, then duplicate them a few times and scale accordingly. or you could use that method to make a mask on an image that's suitable,

@@dalefrank3713 Thank dude, I was facing the same problem. I also found the image for the rings in the same site, but I don't know how I can the image into actual rings, it'll be great if you could help me with that.

What if you added a displacement map on the map and pre-comped it before adding cc sphere? Might be able to move clouds around in an interesting way.
