I love Conan so much. He is really shining on the podcast and is my new listening go-to on long trips

Yes. I think he is the best too. Of course Craig Ferguson was very similar, though shared a little less of his true self than Conan.

Yes to both for me. Conan & Ferguson, other than Carson, are my go-to to watch/listen 👍✌️ Thank goodness, in this sense, for YT.

Andy saved Conan's monologues just about every night in the first season. Maybe two seasons.

Absolutely. And even in interviews. Even after season 2, he really uplifted Conan many times.

I saw a tapping in April 94, yes the show wasn’t together yet especially during commercial break you could sense the dysfunction, Conan also rarely interacted with his audience that is something he learned years later. I’ve also seen Letterman and that was an institution by comparison everyone knew there place. Conan got there eventually too he is now a legend in my books

That's what really made the show for me. It also built incredible chemistry between them, even arguably greater than Letterman and Shaffer. I remember the night Letterman was on the first time, and Conan just couldn't get through his monologue. Andy was absolutely hilarious, and Conan looked over and thanked him as the music started after the bit. It turned out to be a great night, Dave was awesome, hilarious, and so supportive, and it saved the show from the NBC goons.

So many times howard asks a question or tries to lead his guest down a certain path and so many times you get nonanswers or resistance to whatever path howard wants to go down but seeing a few clips from this interview conan always answers and goes down that path in such a coherent way

Because Howard wants to stir the pot and find drama. But Conan is so humble and down to earth, Howard won’t get the type of response he wants.

More of an insight into Stern's mentality than anything else. He's gotten better with therapy over the years but he still likes to dig for petty negative drama.
Andy was the best sidekick, most in sympatico for a host ever next to Adam Egret from the Queensboro bridge (for Norm.)
My heart skipped a beat when I read the title as “Conan O’Brien remembers Andy Richter” 😢

Conan is pure class.
Howard resents the success of his people and that tells you everything you need to know about the difference between him and Conan.
Love you both Always wanted you two doing this
Well, they're really brothers in all but name. Obviously Conan is going to be disappointed to lose someone as cool and funny as Andy. But it's great that Conan just accepted it and wished him well

Late night GOAT.
Andy is a comedy comedian. There's a short list here.

Is that the same as a comedians comedian, or is that another list?
@withershin

@@atlebakke Oh that's a good question. I would say it's a different list but there's overlap. Andy is super talented at the artform of comedy but I think has wider appeal than a comedians comedian.
I remember in Andy's final show he said he was walking away to "pursue his doctorate". Maybe a decade later I realized that he was joking.
The irreplaceable Swedish German :)
What about Jimmy Vivino and the Basic Cable Band?
Andy Richter isn't a sidekick, he's a front kick.
Low-key the bits they did with Max at Late Night after Andy left were funnier than any of the bits they did with Andy.

Talk about winning the lottery. I'm sure Andy would have been doing something in the comedy world but Conan picking him as sidekick almost 30 years ago? Jackpot.
what happened to howard? hes going full howard hughes mode
Is that the same hacket he wore on hot ones lol? The one he put chicken wing bones in the pockets.
Interesting?! No! don't disrespect but I always figured it was conan that pulled the trigger. 🤔?!?
😒 Peak Late Night: when Andy wasn't on the show. Max and Joel his best sidekicks. 😆😂🤣
Hey Now Andy Richter
difference between Howard and Conan..Howard wants people around him to fail without him and Conan wants the people around him to succeed.
Yet now Andy is back under the Team Coco umbrella with his 3 simple queations podcast.
Ironically, Late Night was much better without Andy. More interactions with Max, the band, Joel and just Conan being let loose more improved it a lot. I liked Andy but it was better after he left.

Lol it’s Conan. He wouldn’t return phone calls for years. He had no problem with the show but The Jackie Puppet was a little hard on him. If you saw it you’d see how uncomfortable Conan got during it.
