COMPLETELY TRANSFORMING the Ugliest Mustang in ONE DAY

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

It was the Ugliest Mustang I could find, but with these three simple upgrades we made it look way more presentable. I bought one of the ugliest mustangs in Utah, but thankfully I could see the vision of what this car could be. By simply removing a few changes the previous owner had installed, selecting a new set of wheels and adjusting the suspension, this 2003 New Edge Mustang GT now looks presentable enough to begin the serious modifications.

I can't for the life of me understand why people want to live in an HOA! I do a lot of work in HOA neighborhoods and between what I see and what I hear from residents I don't see the benefits! You buy a house then still pay $300+ a month to the HOA for them to tell what you can and can do to your own home! That definitely isn't for me!

An HOA is like guardrails for a neighborhood.. Protects your investment from having your neighbor leave a bunch of crap around that would devalue your house. In essence, it’s insurance, especially relevant if you want to benefit from your home as an investment asset.

LT, those are OEM 98 Cobra wheels, they are NOT the same as the Cobra R wheels. I’d hate for you to buy the 17x10.5 rears to figure it out after they’re mounted. They look kinda similar but the spokes on the 98 Cobra wheels have a more aggressive bow to them and the spokes are slightly thinner than the 95 Cobra R wheels. Btw, congrats on the purchase and my vote is COYOTE POWER!

I actually bought a real Saleen body kit (front bumper, rear bumper and decklid with spoiler) at the big show in Charlotte earlier this year for $400. It totally transformed the look of the car along with the 17x10.5 wheels in the back. :) Nice thing is I got the car so cheap I feel like I can go to town on it and not be worried about doing something majorly wrong. This way I can keep my Shelby safe of any more mods. LOL

I heard somewhere where there is some kind of spacer for the rear wheels so that they're extended out. It's either that or get wider wheels and tires. The nice thing is that there are mods and upgrades that can be done that makes the car more modern looking. As long as one has the bucks to do all this. My hood has peeled after 21 years but it'll cost $1500 just to paint the hood. I can get the whole car painted for about $7k which will keep the paint matched.

Cut springs aren't always terrible. When you cut them, the spring rate increases... which is usually what you want with a lowered car so they don't bottom out quite so easily. Most of the problems come when people cut multiple coils out and use the stock shocks, leading to a really bouncy ride. With only one coil out, the stock dampers should be able to handle it pretty well.

Rear spacers in rear for the time being will make a nice improvement in looks. CJs pony parts have 1.5" for about $80. I bought aftermarket 18x9 chrome cobra wheels with 265/35r18s for my 95 gt, I wanted 275s but they were hard to find at the moment. with 1.5 spacers in the back and 1" in the front it has a mean look imo. I was hesitant about front spacers but research says name brand hub centric spacers are safe...And guys have no problem with big deep dish wheels and spacers on all 4 corners on lifted trucks...I would not put a ton of power or a habit of drive triple digits but it's a cruiser. I am buying 18x10s and 18x11s at some point but this set ups good for time being. Only issue I've found is every time it rains that bit of wheel poke slings mud all over the sides.

I have one of those Lenox steel diamond coated cut off blades. In my experience. The best thing about it is the fact that it stays the same size for the life of the blade. Otherwise I believe they are more louder/ higher pitch then normal cut off blades and I believe are slower to cut. So definitely wear ear pro. And don't be in a hurry to finish the cut, let the diamonds do its job. Otherwise it a decent blade, but I still prefer the normal cut off blades and use the steel one as a backup blade when I run out of the others.

I don't cut many springs anymore with how cheap they are. When I do cut them though I'll usually drill a couple holes in the perch and wire tie 90 and 180 from the spring tail as you usually won't have a flat coil to seat it on and helps with it not moving if the shock fully extends.

The chassis are a significant upgrade to the Fox body Mustangs, so that's a plus and they can be improved easily and significantly. The 2v engines...man, I don't know. You can get a significant power bump out of them but it isn't cheap. And they're never going to pull those high revs that are so much fun. They sure can sound great.

I swapped my 98 cobra wheels with terminators but they look great on that new edge. Also the 95 cobra R wheels are different than those wheels. The spokes have different curvature.

@@LawrenceTolman they might still have a 10.5 rep 98 cobra wheel I'm not entirely sure but I definitely think the wheels you scored are an oem 98 cobra wheel which is way better than a rep wheel imo.

Can’t beat the look of Cobra wheels on a new edge (as far as OEM wheels go).

Looks a lot better. New edges need 18in rims and slammed. Get a Mach 1 grill delete, 01-04 headlights, and a spoiler delete.

What is that ring that came off with the wheel at 6:51? Looks like a centering ring but those wheels don't look like they require one.

Try to get your hands on a 7.3 Godzilla engine, that would be awesome for this older mustang

I like what u have done and are going to do to the ugly truck. I’m a new subscriber, I watched u on Truck Tech didn’t know where u went until Matt had u on his channel when he was working on the Morrvar. I have a 09 short box, 4.8 stock, reg cab, 2 wheel drive. 142k on miles. I would like to put 4 wd & pep up 4.8, not a race truck but something to have fun with. I retired 2 yrs ago so I have the time short on skills need a little advice on where to start. I know about raise & lowering 4wds I had a truck exactly like ur black truck it was a 99 Chevy short step side bed I lowered it front and rear much like yours. Love ur channel it’s in language I can relate to. Sorry so long, first time I have ever sent comments. Larry Tate

I would say take another ring off of the springs cuz it really doesn’t look like much of a lower for the work needed I would do that or just get a 2 inch drop spring but I had the same problem with rears on my new edge they are too far sucked in on these cars and I had the o4 cobra wheels on my 2001 GT but a 1 inch spacer would help solve that for the rears I think and spacers are not expensive at all anymore and they are safe if you use a repretable brand and install them correctly of course. Otherwise not a bad transformation these cars are such a good buy for the money it’s just cheap horsepower and fun even in and automatic but a manual is much more fun

Whatever is the weight deference from the old motor to the new motor?
