This video shows the complete 3-function joystick kit installed on a John Deere 4440 tractor. The joystick kit fits all the JD 4000 Series tractors. The joystick kit has two cables that control the loader and bucket, and an electric 3rd function for controlling the grapple. The items included in the kit are the joystick with 2 buttons, 2 cables, wiring harness, 3-spool hydraulic control valve, brackets for mounting joystick and control valve, ISO Pioneer Standard quick couplers, power beyond block, pressure and return hoses, hoses from control valve to loader steel lines, all needed fittings and all installation hardware.
This joystick kit replaces John Deere part number BWA1073.
A 2-function joystick kit is available as well, for a front-end loader setup without a bucket grapple. This kit is the same as the one shown in the video, minus the buttons in the joystick handle, wiring harness, electric 3rd spool on the control valve, and the extra grapple hoses and quick couplers.
The cables and wiring harness run up from the control valve through the knockout hole in the cab floor to the joystick. The joystick brackets can mount either to the side of the cab wall, or to the side of the console. The adjustment holes in the brackets allow you to pivot the joystick in different directions so it's most comfortable for the operator. The joystick base also has a nut that can be loosened and re-tightened, allowing the bent stem of the joystick to be moved left or right for comfort.
The power beyond block installed in the rear of the tractor provides the pressure and return to the hydraulic control valve, leaving the rear remotes free. There are three possible places the power beyond block (manifold block) can be installed - we recommend using the far-left stack as the best place to install the PBY block.
