I just got my Samaritan Pentateuch. The translators claim there are 6000 variance between the Samaritan Pentateuch and the Masoretic text and 2000 variance between the Samaritan Pentateuch and the Septuagint.

What translation of the Bible do you use for study (not general reading)? For the longest time I used the KJV and while I do love the poetic translation I moved to the DR Bible which has the Deuterocanonical books; however, most English Bibles including the DR use the Masoretic Texts primarily for their OT. Would you recommend continuing to use these versions or read a blend of Brenton’s Translation along with these older translations? Thank you and great work on your content

Great questions! I believe the best answer is to add as many translations that are helpful to you. Here is my personal list of translations that help me. HCSB (my personal favorite; it is now called the CSB) ASV (most literal) Brenton's (best Septuagint) NLT (best balance of dynamic and accurate) OSB (Septuagint, Deuterocanon, and New Testament all-in-one)

Is gematria different in Samaritan Pentateuch/Torah?

Would it be possible at the end of each book to show a final tally for that book? I'd like to see how each book compares to every other book in terms of "Verses: ??, Both: ??, LXX:. ??, MT: ??". I think having this format completed at the end of each book would be a real benefit for analysis. Just a suggestion.

Thank you for commenting. Yes, the Pre-Nicene Christians wrote about those things happening. But compared to other subjects, they wrote extremely little about demon possession and unclean spirits. I haven't looked at that subject for a while, so I won't share the Pre-Nicene beliefs about it right now. Perhaps many years down the road, I will make a video about it. But like the Pre-Nicene Christians, they apparently believed there were more important things to talk about. And those are the videos I want to do next. As for my own thoughts, I have learned to not put anything in a box. That is, I used to believe that demon possession/oppression was completely fake. However, now I believe that possession/oppression can happen today. No longer do I want to put anything in a box, but instead be opened minded about things like that. And there is one belief that I think is the MOST TRUE when it comes to this subject: it is absolutely impossible for a Christian to be possessed by demons. If a person is a Christian, then they have the Holy Spirit, who is FAR MORE POWERFUL than anything than Satan can do. As the apostle John said, "We know that everyone who has been born of God does not sin, but the One who is born of God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him" (1John 5:18). That is, everyone who belongs to God is kept safe from demon possession. Satan may tempt us like crazy, but Satan cannot control us. For the person who does not belong to God, that person does not have that guarantee. God bless you!

I was also wondering if the Pre-Nicene writings give us any indication as to whether the problem of the Gentiles being compelled to be circumcised and keep the Law of Moses was still lingering, or if Paul's letters and teachings had stopped that problem by their time. @@ExploringThroughTheBible Excellent question! As you know, the Jewish Christian who tried to compel everyone to be circumcised and keep the Law of Moses were called Judaizers. This is the group that Paul targeted in Galatians, whom Paul said had fallen from grace. After Paul's time (in the 2nd century and a little after), there was a group called the Ebionites. They were not as "fallen from grace" as the Judaizers, but the Ebionites also commanded that people observe many of the Laws of Moses. Fast forward to today. This concept of "Judaizing" has resurfaced in the last few decades. It is called the Hebrew Roots Movement. Folks in this movement have a lot of different beliefs on compelling themselves (and others) in following the Law of Moses... but for many of the folks in in the Hebrew Roots Movement, it is a modern-day version of "Judaizing."

The pie charts seem not that correct because the pies make a round to mean they are together as 100%, but the numbers of these pies are added into less than 100%. Why?

Just to clarify does the kjv uses both?

Thank you for asking clarification. No, the KJV uses the Masoretic for its Old Testament. However, the translators of the KJV were familiar with the Septuagint. There are a few verses in the KJV where it uses the Septuagint instead of the Masoretic. For example, Isaiah 7:14 says "young woman" in Masoretic and says "virgin" in the Septuagint. The KJV translated it as "virgin," which is correct. God bless you!

If Masoretic text has all the contradictions and the gematria is different between Masoretic and Samaritan maybe we should use Samaritan gematria. Contradictions are big red flags.

Did the Masoretic Text exist during the time of Jesus to allow HIM or the gospel writers to quote from the MT ?

Thank you for commenting. The point of these videos is compare today's Masoretic with today's Septuagint in order to find out which one is more accurate (based on the NT quotations). While the Septuagint did exist in Jesus' day, the Masoretic technically did not. But since the Masoretic is the oldest Old Testament we have, it is all we have to go by. God bless you!

@@monotheist.. I agree that it is a good thing to quote the words verbatim as best we can. However, the power of the Scriptures is not in the words but in the message the words are trying to say. I forget which verse it was, but there was one time that Jesus quoted from the Old Testament and He did not quote it verbatim. Also, there is the fact that language changes over time and words can change in meanings. While language changes, God's message does not. That is another reason why the meaning of the words are more important than the words themselves. No, I do not think that a NT quotation could "accidentally" match either the Masoretic or Septuagint. I believe the NT quotation is exactly what it should be. Because of that, we can use what we know is true (NT quotations) in order to see which OT wordings are true.

O θεός God, ο θεός μου my God, πρόσχες take heed μοι to me! ινατί Why εγκατέλιπές did you abandon με me? It is the last quote, you see that there is only the sentence "take heed to me" that is omitted in the Gospel of Mark, but for the rest it is the same as the masoretic. I think Jesus is quoting both.

Thanks for asking. Ideally speaking, I would answer yes. I still have my plan and future videos are in the works. Practically speaking, I know it does not look like it. My life has been so busy, it has been much more difficult than I thought to find time to work on and finish videos. In short, I would say that I have been on an unexpected hiatus. I would like to change that! Time will tell.

Jesus and the apostles quote from the Septuagint over 300 times in the New Testament. Literally in all 27 New Testament books

Hi Brother ! The massoretic text doesn't exist at the time of our God and Savior Yeshua/Jesus. How can you say that God Yeshua/Jesus or the apostles quote this text ??? Yeshua/Jesus didn't need to quote any scriptures, cause He is the Holies Scriptures. And jehovah is a pagan name useby pagan as jehovah witnesses. The Name of Yeshua/Jesus, in Old Testament is YHVH = Yahveh. As in John 19.19-20 in Hebrew : Yeshua Ha'nostri Ve'melech Ha'yehudim = YHVH. In English : Yeshua The Nazarene The King of Jews. Thank you for commenting. Yes, the Masoretic did not exist in Jesus' day. We do not have the Hebrew that existed in Jesus' day; the Masoretic is the the closest to it. These videos are comparing the New Testament with today's Masoretic and today's Septuagint. It's a great way to learn which one is more accurate to the New Testament. God bless you!

"Yahweh" pronounciation is the same as the Jove/Iove, which is the Roman Jupiter. the Jehovah/Yehovah Ive read is this way because the Jews placed the vowels of adonai into the YHWH, and later others took it to be the actual pronounciation. Not sure how true the last part is, but it's what Ive read concerning it.

@@Tyfron You are right, the rabbis added vowels to the tetagram YHVH to mislead people, so that they do not pronounce correctly the Name of the Father and the Son, which God gave to Moses for the old covenant = YAHVEH. And the sect of jehovah's witnesses, as well as other ignorant people, have fallen for this. YAH is the third person of the verb to be in Hebrew, meaning HE IS, HE WAS, HE WILL BE, while YEH is the first person of the verb to be in Hebrew, meaning I AM, I WAS, I WILL BE. HalleluYAH !
