Awesome review! Super job Ben. The cars are great and your obvious passion makes them come across even better. MB should make you brand ambassador! SL63 is terrific... the sound and all the AMG adds. But if anyone can only afford the 550... not to worry. You'll still turn heads.

I have a 2014 sl 63.It s a great car .Had a 2016 gts amg in the past and i loved that car as well.

Great job on the video and explaining the difference. I honestly didn’t know though I just bought a low mileage 2016 SL 550 and love it !! The only gripes I have are that there is no CarPlay and the surround and back 11:53 speakers only work when you put a CD/DVD in or an SD card. Otherwise it’s just the front speakers . Still love the power and elegance of the 550.

Nice honest review Ben, thank you for taking the time and effort to show all of the features of this vehicle.I have owned my SL63 for 4 years now and use it as my daily drive. The boot space is a very good feature and worth mentioning. I have only had a couple of small faults in all that time but nothing that would stop me buying another. I has everything you need - Performance, comfort and class. I have driven all over Europe sometimes clocking over 500miles in a day.

Very good video on the two SL’s

The SL is my dream car. I started lusting over an SL55 AMG a few years ago. Then I found I could actually afford a used SL63. Then I discovered Distronic. The more research I did, the more car I wanted, ultimately leading me to the 2013 SL550 with Distronic Plus. NOW... you throw the SL63 in my face, and I have a new dream machine... a 2013 SL63 with Distronic for under $50k...

I like the more aggressive look and exhaust sound of the SL63 AMG

Great walk around and camera work. An external mic would go a very long way to better audio. Not expensive at all for iphone or others.

Awesome video. Great comprehensive comparison b/w the 550 and SL63. I’ve been looking at the 63 and the 65. I think the 63 has all I want which is the engine and suspension performance. The exhaust is also my fav feature. I want the 65 for the bragging rights since you very rarely see a 65 on any model car; S, Sl, G, GL, E… A dealer told me to just think of the 63 over the 65 because of the small diff on the cruise. Off the line it’s obvious but at speeds the cars will have minimal difference in comparison to what the sticker price you’ll be paying. Oh. One thing I didn’t know was the tinting roof feature!!! I want one with that!!! Reminds me of the window on a Boeing 787 Dreamliner! Anyway. Great video!

I had a 2018 SL63 for 2 years before selling.. I had driven several 550 models, they are similar in feel etc, but the SL550 even in sport plus is probably about the same as the 63 in comfort.. On the open higway the 550 has more than enough power and speed to get you in trouble.. The 63 attracts racers and people wanting to drag you - they always lose lol... I smoked so many mustangs GT's it was crazy.. the 63 is closer to 625 hp stock from what some people told me that own performance shops... I ran a 11.46 at 126 mph at the drag strip.. its a rocket and if you dont want that much power the 550 is fine.

I love my 550 sl...it has 7speed, and 9 speed options, with seats that wrap around you in the turns. Amazing speed and comfort. The convertible panoramic hard top is a real kick when people see it opening or closing, like a transformer! Beautiful body design and features inside and out. I will keep this car, and pass it down to my son!😅

Very good information Ben, thanks for posting. I didn't know about the carbon fiber trunk on the SL63. There is one feature you mentioned that I believe functions differently from how it was described. The ECO function, after turning off the engine when stopped, will restart the engine as you release pressure off the brake so the engine will be ready when you touch the accelerator. Please let me know if this is correct. On the interior, I believe that the heated and ventilated seats both have three settings. I'm sure you know that, probably just misspoke at that point in the video. It was great to hear how quite it was inside the car compared to recording outside the cars. One great reasons why they have the hard top convertible. Thanks for having the two models side by side, nice to see the differences.

I'm wondering why M-B got rid of the closing compartments in the doors of the R-230 and went with the down-scale open trays. Anyone have knowledge of the actual reason? We all have our guesses, but I would be interested in knowing.

I have the SL63 with a performance pack/Designo, it is awesome and a beast.

I have an SL550 and the best feature is that it does many things well. It is comfortable, reliable, fast, has a practical trunk and works equally well as a coupe or convertible. It even gets good as mileage. (Last trip: 1,200 miles, average 29 MPG.) It is a fantastic GT.

The only thing you forgot was to show them next to each other and move the camera at a good angle to see the difference between both.

One of the best car

the 2009-2010 are the pennacle so far. They embodied exactly what an SL should look like. The newers ones are cool but they dont look as aggressive.

I will take the SL 550...hands down. Tune the SL , 545hp/716 trq...just have to know , be informed and educate yourself. The sl550 is a monster...if tuned appropriately..😉👍

Doesnt have suspension or dynamics or engine capacity as the sl63. Sl550 is actually terrible in corners

I got sl63amg for my wife and I ❤ sl550 sounds like a girls car, sorry nothin copies the 63 even better 6.3L

I would go with sl and tune it and save the rest of the money.
