Honestly, for how old those shocks are I'd say they held up fantastic. I've seen oem Ford trucks shocks no longer rebound being 3 years old, and that's being a gas charged shock as well. Those bilsteins are great shocks

Yeah some people say you have to replace every few years or 50,000 miles. Load of crap. Good shocks should last longer than that. I'm looking at some Bilstein B6 too.

I have a Kia minivan and recently took out the KYB rear shocks after 80,000 miles thinking they might need changing out. I bought a set of new sachs from RockAuto. There's not many options for my vehicle. I did a comparison of the old and new and the KYB was much much stiffer and didn't recompress after I pushed it down. The brand new sachs was like a sponge. I could easily push down on it and it would bounce right back and you could hear the fluid swishing around inside. Is this normal? Watching your video it's telling me that my brand new shocks are worse than my old KYB. :-/

maybe return the new ones. old ones may still be ok at 80k. If the van rides fine then why change it. The syclone seemed to be bouncing around a bit so I got new bilsteins while they are still available.

@@--emt it is firmer but not in a harsh way, for example going over speed bumps the truck will settle much faster. Going around corners at speed the truck sits flat without any body roll. Still softens the initial impact of bumps/potholes but the recovery is faster.

@@gregs_garage the original shocks, no. Replacing them after a bit is recommended. I work for them as an engineering intern. Overtime some oil will make it's way out as the seals get old, some will burn up from heat. Eventually they'll give out, but they do last a long while. Theyre good quality I wouldn't stay working with them if I didn't believe in their product since I'm a car guy myself. My suggestion is when they get old replace them with an OEM or an upgraded aftermarket set of Bilsteins and you'll be in good hands. Also a great place for an intern. You're treated like an actual member of the team not a paper pusher, I've made tooling designs and such for the products and actually get to have an impact and real world experience.
